I believe this is just the Chronicles side stories ported for playstation 3. If you would like to know more about Muv-Luv or how to get started feel free to ask. No Muv-Luv Total Eclipse the original anime is not a good place to start or a good representation of the series.

Yes it's a visual novel series but it's not your typical vn experience, another example would be School Days which is pretty much just an anime with multiple choices.

I'm pretty sure the existence of the Muv-Luv franchise is denied outside of Japan. Were it not for the spinoff anime, I for one never would've heard of Muv-Luv, nor would I have had the chance to enjoy the Unlimited and Alternative manga adaptions from illegal scan websites. PhotonFlowers, like any other Muv-Luv game, will be arriving in North America the day after NEVER. Like for all you Gundam fans out there, who're in love with your respective mecha genre(s), there's always going to be 101 side stories we'll never have a chance to read. If only language barriers were the only problem....

On a side note, did they really have to hire the most annoying voice actor to talk at the beginning of the preview video? Can Japanese people not read subtitles, or was it their intention to make the background song as difficult to hear as humanly possible?

laughs Well, the point is nostalgia i think pretty much everyone can agree she has an annoying voice but it grows on you just like with any other character you may want to run from fear of your eardrums being blown.

It's honestly been awhile since we've revisited the original cast since their story for all we know is finished at this point, Meiya is also the other alternative for canon romance and her voice more puts you at ease than anything else.

For the most part yes but in the visual novel world people have at least heard of the title getting the wrong impression or eventually mustering up the courage to see why it's rated so highly among a small following. http://vndb.org/v/all?q=;fil=tagspoil-0;o=d;s=rating But i think everyone knows about us on 4chan.

As for the manga unfortunately i can't recommend that either Extra isn't fully translated and it's honestly pretty bad, Unlimited although missing one arc it's one of the more enjoyable canon arcs with the most action, a bit of dialogue regarding friendly banter was changed as well which fans find more enjoyable then anything else. And Alternative has been great, plenty of extras not in the visual novel but both have there plus side. Unfortunately not only is the translation slow, so is the release.

Oh god, the side stories are ridiculous and i mean ridiculous.. tons of lore on tsf's (mecha), hives, politics, tanks and foot soldiers etc. Despite the fact wiki has a lot of info on there there's still a lot that hasn't been added due to lack of translators. And i have no doubt if it's the visual novel trilogy the manga series or if one day by some freak chance Alternative gets an anime adaptation which there is an original Muv-Luv title we have been waiting on to be confirmed for around a year now, it won't ever see the light of an American release.

Ashminigun's post is a major spoiler you've been warned.

That's Sumika for you.

Like StormVanguard said, the Alternative side story probably expanding the Marimo's backstory and what-if scenario that spoiler[she didn't died in the Alternative and Takeru loop back in time and join Marimo's squad instead Squad 207th and A-01.]
