Looks like its going to be a pretty awesome movie! I still need to get around to watching the first one though... I was hoping it would get a western release, I'm a bit surprised it hasn't.

It didn't seem like Space Battleship Yamato was going to have an American release for a while either which was why I bought the UK blu ray, and lo and behold it was afterwards Funimation announced licensing it. I'm holding onto the hope that maybe there'll be a licensing announcement after the two sequels come out, because perhaps someone's waiting until they get everything at once. That's only my assumption, and if that doesn't happen, I'll have to resort to importing the UK blu rays again.
From someone who's never read the manga or watched the anime, the first movie totally kicked ass, and these sequels definitely look like they will not disappoint at all!

I suppose that would just take up way too much time, even for two movies.

I'm still sort of holding out hope that he'll be a surprise reveal at the end of movie 2 or something, though I know that possibility fades the more information they release...
