Haven't read the manga, but Trigun is and probably always will be in my top 3, so this is great news for sure.

Haven't read the manga either, but the way I look at it... it's kinda 'macho' action manga featuring adult Americans as main characters. Amirite?

An American-themed action anime from the creator of Trigun. This might make its way into Toonami. Or even a simuldub. Who knows. Cool

This be happy news indeed, a good 2nd option to a relaunched manga-based Trigun/Maximum series. Nightow's crazy genius is in full force in Blood Blockade Battlefront.

I wanted to read more of this, but B&N seems to have stopped carrying the volumes. I guess that'll change after the anime comes out, though...

How much have you read?

You can get the first 5 volumes from Amazon, with Vol 6 coming in September.

Article says
Quote:
After he finished Trigun Maximum in 2007, Nightow launched Bloodline Battlefront as a one-shot manga story in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine in May of 2008. He then turned it into a three-part mini-series called Kekkai Sensen -Mafūgai Kessha- in the same magazine in 2009. He has since continued the story as a regular series in Jump SQ.19 in 2010.

So, technically, the third version is being made into an anime, right?

So true. He so deftly moves from comedy to action to outright bonkersness, and his love for American comics comes out so loud and clear in this series. For those who haven't read it, it's basically like every single early 90s Image comic series rolled up into one setting, but with 80% of the "GRIM AND SERIOUS" replaced with Trigun-style goofiness.

And now it's getting an anime series? Rawk! Count me in!

Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, if the anime is done right, this could have a LOT of crossover appeal like Cowboy Bebop did. It will be interesting to see what happens for the localization.

Oh, yes yes yes!

A lot of people seem to have not liked the series, but I suspect it's because it's not the sameas Trigun, and they're reading it just because it's by Nightow. It has its own unique charm Smile
