I think all we need now is drunken Gohan, Pilaf's antics, and the Super Saiyan God, and we'll have watched the entire movie.

There already was a clip of Pilaf's antics. I don't know why Funimation is determined to have us watch this movie 2 minutes at a time.

I don't get what the 'huge problem' is with them putting out a bunch of promo clips...it's called hype building guys. Hell, it's not like 1) a lot of people haven't already seen the movie in Japanese anyway or at least read all about it, and 2) watching something in it's entirety together is going to be a lot different of an experience than watching these clips were.
That and, if you really don't want to see the clips, then...don't...watch them? Geez. |

Took the words right out of my mouth. There's a world of a difference between watching a bunch of 2 minute clips on youtube in 480p and watching the entire movie on a big screen in a dark theater. These are just small tastes to whet our appetites so people are more likely to actually go and buy a ticket. This is called marketing, not that difficult to understand. |

There's a pretty wide gulf between previewing a movie and showing roughly half the content of it, if not more, with those preview clips. Marketing is supposed to whet your appetite so that you'll want to pay money to see the whole thing, not to show you the whole thing and risk losing your purchase money because you've already seen the good parts.
But I will speculate that one of the reasons Funimation is being so generous with preview clips is that this movie is somewhat different from the format of previous DBZ movies, and they want to make sure people know what they're getting into. It has a lot more silly comic hijinks than you would expect from the ominous music used even sandwiching the clips. Still, it's overkill. |
