This show was a pleasant surprise for me this season. I didn't know anything going into it and expected a typical romantic-comedy, but every episode has been comical gold and I love all of the characters so much! Easily my favorite show of the summer and the one I look forward to seeing the most every week.

Every season there is one show that I isn't on my radar that I end up liking. The past few seasons had those shows being my favorite shows, their respective season or really high up on the list. White Album2, Hyouka (my all time fav), One Week Friends, The Devil is a Part timer, and this are examples. I'm glad I gave it a try. It's fun 20 minutes a week.

Not only am I still laughing by episode 9, but this had some jokes that were making me laugh the hardest. The entire sequence in the rain and umbrellas was comedic gold. Nozaki pulling the jacket over his head, tilting the umbrella for Chiyo but instead pouring water on her, and best of all walking on the outside to protect Chiyo (using her as reference for Mamiko) only to be splashed by a passing car and admitting there was nothing he could do about that.

This show never stops being a complete joy to watch and a show that was not on the radar at all for me leading up to the summer shows.

This is a splendid show that is suitable for all ages, all genders and fans of any genre.

Oh my...can you just imagine....when having a really really bad day, and you spend 30 mins to watch an episode of Gekkan Shojo, all of sudden, it puts a big smile (or laughter) on you face; life feels good Cool

I really enjoyed Nozaki-kun in the beginning. But once all the main characters were introduced along with their quirks and gags, I felt it was the same jokes over and over again. spoiler[Oh gee Sakura thinks Nozaki is going to do something romantic with her, but he doesn't. Mikorin tries to act cool but ends up embarrassing himself. Nozaki thinks everything revolves around manga.] And the list just goes on. It's sad because I stopped laughing early on.

Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun is a comedy series—and a comedy series done right—and that means you won't find dramatic character development or overarching plotlines here. But it's the perfect way to unwind on a hectic day or to round out your languid weekend if you can't wait to watch the new episodes. The series seems to recognize the manga and anime character stereotypes it features and turns them on their heads so well, there's no danger of ever being bored by rehashed jokes.

That pretty much nail the series. I was really worried that they'd try to turn it into an actual romance show, but thankfully they seems to have realized it would just ruin the show and lower the joke density.

Best show this season, and maybe this year, by far (well barakamon could challenge it but I just re read the manga not long ago so it's tempering my interest in it). It know what it is and execute it well.

@puppy1843e:

The writing never stops finding new ways to play with expectations. For example, the time when Nozaki got sick but everyone believed he needed help with his manga because they thought that getting sick was too cliched and so brought drawing supplies instead of medicine.

The show is easily one of the best of the season and one of the funniest comedies I've seen in a while. Each episode is always guaranteed to bring a warm smile to my face.

I often find shows like this difficult to explain to other people, but the reviewer did an excellent job of breaking it down for us in a couple of paragraphs.

I find this show very enjoyable on another level as well, as I'm very interested in the behind-the-scenes/production process for books and comics (even satirized). I especially liked the episode that introduced the two editors and their... unique... approaches.

Add me to the list of people who are pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy this little trifle. It is consistently funny and occasionally touching. Sakura is a great perspective character, being the most sane person in the room in most cases, despite being crazy in love with a clueless dolt like Nozaki. (I wish she would just give in and model the sailor uniform though. She would be deathly cute in it!)

The first half of episode 9 was possibly the best so far, with punchline after punchline hitting home, then delivering the final blow with Sakura loosing to Yukari in terms of what made it into the manga.

The second half was funny as well, with the tanuki madness, but not as many laughs-per-minute. (Personally, I think both of the editors are pretty crappy. A happy medium wouldn't be funny though.)

I often don't watch any romantic-comedy genre but this anime give me an execption. Who 'd thought it will turn out one of the funniest and probably one of the best series of this season.

Every single episode are awesome and laughed out louder more than I should including latest episode specifically, the first half.

I'm waiting for next episode. And I agree most of your reviews and once in a while everyone else's comments.

Yeah, this has become my favorite new show of the season. I was willing to give it a go based on the first episode alone, because even if it had been a straightforward romantic-comedy Nozaki and Sakura seemed cute together. But I'm so much happier that it wasn't that. Especially once they added all the new characters in, it's hilarious. Kashima especially is great and her antics with Hori are so much fun to watch. And of course, like everyone, I love Mikorin.

I wouldn't mind if it ended with Nozaki and Sakura getting together, but I'm glad that comedy instead of romance is the focus. I imagine if there's going to be a romantic ending it'll happen near the end of the manga, like previous shojo-parody Ouran High School Host Club did, rather than in the anime. I'd say it's really a good thing to check out if you like Ouran, actually. It's similar in terms of being a parody of a lot of shojo cliches, but Nozaki-kun is a little bit kinder, if that makes sense?

Oh yeah, and I know I always bring this up with anime, but I really like the music in this series. The tubas add so much to its goofy flair.

Every episode makes me laugh out loud but I think my favorite was the one where Nozaki and Mikorin played a visual novel and ended up becoming obsessed with the protagonist's supportive best friend.

I love the show and I want to request the manga on the new Vertical reader's poll. Anyone with me?

I love both Nozaki-kun and Ouran, but the latter is not quite what I'd consider parody—it does play with and poke fun at the common tropes of shoujo manga, but at heart it is a shoujo love-comedy. I see Nozaki-kun as just plain comedy. In that sense, it reminds me a little more of My Heavenly Hockey Club. If a scene's leading up to either a love scene or a punchline, you can expect the punchline every time :D

Yeah, I definitely want to read the manga and hope it gets licensed. But Vertical's poll seems to be closed (despite the description saying it would be open until the 22nd)?
