So, basically a copy-paste of Dino Thunder?

If i'm right, that means instead of the Bird God, Torin as mentor to the Dino Rangers, it would be Jason, meaning Jason would become a Silver Ranger.

Thats my theory at least.

Is it really? I don't watch the PR versions, but I thought they were generally just dumbed down versions of the sentai plots. Abaranger and Kyoryuger weren't anything alike outside dinosaurs.

How could you think that if you don't watch the PR versions? That seems like circular reasoning.

Since the start of the Neo-Saban, there hasn't been a lot of episodes that veer away from the original Sentai ones. I hope with Judd Lynn's involvement we'll be returning back to some awesome storytelling.

Well, for a team that didn't start out as a trio.

Nice diversity in the cast, though Power Rangers has quite often been really good at that. I am sad to see only one female ranger, since there has usually been 2 in the 5 Ranger teams, even when the Sentai only had one.

It was explained why there was only one female by the producer of the show, though it was more about the question on why there was no KyoryuYellow

"This is actually not the first time a team is without a Yellow member, J.A.K.Q, Battle Fever J and Dengeki Sentai Changeman never had a Yellow member. When it was decided that the Kyoryuger's would be required to defeat a dinosaur in order to be able to transform, we wanted the characters to be absurdly strong.

In order to show this, we chose to have more male characters over female characters. Seeing how modern Yellows have been female, we couldn’t have a male Yellow. If the Yellow was a male, the kids would probably think it was feminine and we wanted to avoid that."

For those wondering about the number of females on a team, here's a ratio of every season, both the Sentai and the PR version.

Numbers are as follows:
# Males at start : # Females at start | # Males at end : # Females at end
If there are multiple "increments" of additions, those are separate (if I know them... I haven't seen every series yet)
Any Ranger-like allies that are added by the end of the series will be denoted after Females with an (M) or (F) to denote which

Zyuranger > MMPR
4:1 | 5:1 >>> 3:2 | 4:2

Dairanger > MMPR
4:1 | 5:1 >>> 4:2 | 4:2

Kakuranger > MMPR > Alien Rangers
4:1 | 4:1:1(M) >>> 4:2 | 4:2:1(M) >>> 4:1

Ohranger > Zeo
3:2 | 4:2 >>> 3:2 | 4:2

Carranger > Turbo
3:2 | 3:2:3(2M/1F) >>> 3:2 | 4:2:1(M)

Megaranger > In Space
3:2 | 4:2 >>> 3:2 | 4:2

Gingaman > Lost Galaxy
4:1 | 4:1:1(M) >>> 3:2 | 4:2*
* In Gingaman, there is a Ranger-like ally. In Lost Galaxy, the same character's powers are held by two different characters. One is counted as a Ranger-like ally, the other as a Ranger. They are only listed as a Ranger here.

GoGoFive > Lightspeed Rescue
4:1 | 4:1:1(F)* >>> 3:2 | 4:2**
* In GoGoFive, there is a Ranger-like ally, who is female. The character exists in Lightspeed Rescue, but as a one-off character, and not considered an ally.
** In Lightspeed Rescue, since there was no 6th ranger or [used] Ranger-like ally, an original 6th ranger was created.

Timeranger > Time Force
4:1 | 5:1 >>> 3:2 | 4:2

Gaoranger > Wild Force
4:1 | 5:1 >>> 3:2 | 4:2

Hurricaneger > Ninja Storm
2:1 | 5:1 | 6:1 >>> 2:1 | 5:1 | 6:1

Abaranger > Dino Thunder
2:1 | 3:1 | 4:1 >>> 2:1 | 5:1 | 6:1

Dekaranger > SPD
3:2 | 5:5* >>> 3:2* | 5:4**
*SPD introduced an "A-Team" and "B-Team", with the Rangers being the "B-Team." The "A-Team" spoiler[turned out to be villains] and are not included in the count.
**Though some of the Rangers by the end are one-offs and/or movie-only, they are still officially considered Rangers. DekaGold, who is movie-only, is not in SPD, as the movie was not adapted.

Magiranger > Mystic Force
3:2 | 5:3 >>> 3:2 | 5:3

Boukenger > Operation Overdrive
3:2 | 4:2:1(M) >>> 3:2 | 4:2:1(M)

Gekiranger > Jungle Fury
2:1 | 3:1 | 4:1 | 4:1:2(1M/1F) >>> 2:1 | 3:1 | 4:1 | 7:1 | 7:1:2(1M/1F)*
* Jungle Fury had a set of original Rangers, who were all male.

Go-Onger > RPM
4:1 | 5:2 >>> 4:1 | 5:2

Shingenker > Samurai/Super Samurai
3:2 | 4:2 | 4:3 >>> 3:2 | 4:2 | 4:3

Goseiger > Megaforce/Super Megaforce
4:2* | 3:2 | 3:2:1(M)** >>> 3:2 | 4:2**
* Though never seen transformed, there was originally a sixth ranger, who was killed prior to the beginning of Goseiger.
** Goseiger has a Ranger-like ally, who is counted as a Ranger for Megaforce

Gokaiger > Super Megaforce
3:2 | 4:2 >>> 3:2 | 4:2 | 5:2*
* Though as-yet unaired, it seems as though Robo Knight will be returning, adding an extra male Ranger to SMf

Go-Busters
2:1 | 4:1

Kyoryuger > Dino Charge
4:1 | 5:1 | 9:1* | 7:3* >>> 4:1 | ???
* I didn't care for (and so didn't watch) Kyoryuger, but the 4 additional Rangers all start out with their powers held by male characters who pass them on, and 2 pass theirs to female. I don't know the order of how they show up, so the last 2 spots are just total number of rangers.

Kyoryuger, especially at the middle, is very off in numbers. I have a feeling that they might skip over the original Kyoryu Cyan and Violet, skipping straight to their female versions.

[edit]My point, yes, I can remember it before I get distracted again.

Anyway, while Saban started out trying to keep the male:female ratio closer, a Ranger hasn't had their gender changed since Wild Force. However, as Wild Force was a transitional series (first Disney-owned series, but was still made by MMPR Productions), Disney never changed a character gender, and Saban hasn't done it since taking the franchise back.

As an interesting note, as far as the Ranger Keys from Gokaiger/Super Megaforce are concerned, outside of the core teams, there are 16 Rangers who are considered "Sixths Rangers": Dragon Ranger/MMPR Green, Kiba Ranger/MMPR White, King Ranger/Zeo Gold Ranger, Mega/In Space Silver, Time Fire/Quantum Ranger, GaoSilver/Lunar Wolf Ranger, Shurikenger/Green Samurai Ranger*, AbareKiller/Dino Thunder White, DekaBreak/Omega Ranger, MagiShine/Solaris Knight, Bouken Silver/Mercury Ranger, Go-On Gold/Ranger Gold, Go-On Silver/Ranger Silver**, Shinken Gold/Gold Samurai Ranger, Gosei Knight/Robo Knight***
*Not to be confused with the Green Samurai Ranger from Samurai.
**She is the only female Sixth Ranger, though she shares the role with her brother.
***Interestingly enough, though he has a Sixth Ranger Key, Gosei Knight is not considered a Ranger in Goseiger.

After those, there are 10 Extra Rangers/Extra Heroes keys. These characters are considered either Rangers or Ranger-Like allies. They are as follows:
Signalman/Blue Centurion, Black Knight/Magna Defender, Deka Master/Shadow Ranger, Deka Swan/Kat Ranger*, MagiMother/White Mystic Ranger, Wolzard Fire/Wolf Warrior, Zubaan/Sentinel Knight, Rio/Black Lion Warrior, Mele/Green Chameleon Warrior, Princess Shinken Red/Red Samurai Ranger**
* Yes, they changed a swan motif into a cat motif
** While she has the same name as the previous Ranger, her powers exist separately at the same time, so she's counted as a separate ranger.

Missing from these lists are Ninjaman/Ninjor from Kakuranger (explained in Gokaiger), VRV Master/Phantom Ranger from Carranger/Turbo (though there is a US Key toy), all 4 original US rangers, and the final 2(1 in PR) Rangers from Dekaranger/SPD.

While I don't really agree with Power Rangers practice of gender swapping for the sake of sexual diversity, it's a bit silly to dismiss the idea of male yellow rangers as uncool.

Then again, I don't know what reception female blue rangers have had either.

When it comes to diversity people generally boil it down to simple race and gender, but I feel writing is far more important. Despite 99% of sentai cast being Japanese, with the rare exception like Ramirez or Doggie, they have far more diverse characters than the Power Ranger's cast. A good example is the current series MegaForce compared with Gokaiger. They do have an Asian and a black character, but they do not do much with them and they are fairly shallow characters. I'm not trying to say Sentai is some deep, intricate cerebral show, but Ahim and Joe had a lot more layers and backstory to their characters, including character resolution for their individual goals of joining Marvelous' crew, that Emma and Noah do not. They are simply normal high school kids like the original Mighty Morphin Rangers. I'd like to see more writing diversity than simple skin color or gender diversity myself.
