Wow, another popular manga series ending! Wonder which will be the next big series to go?

Hopefully Viz will pick it up now they know it isn't going to keep going forever & ever. (I think it could be one of their license announcements in the fall?)

Really?! The manga's on 142, as of the last time I checked, normally you get more time between the announcement and the end of the series D: It's sad, I really enjoyed the manga.

There is no way this manga isn't getting a sequel. But seriously what the hell!?

They have an alternate storyline with Tokyo Ghoul Jack

Tokyo Ghoul Jack is a poorly drawn prequel story for one of the characters in the main story.

There's definitely something else coming. So many things haven't been resolved and explained.

Too many mysteries right now; and its popularity is enough for it not to be randomly cancelled.

I agree with you, it feels like there so much left unresolved right now. Maybe the author wanted to do a time-skip or something and felt like this would be the best way to do it?

I can't really believe that this is the last we'll see of Ghoul.

Tokyo Ghoul Jack is something the mangaka drew before the Tokyo Ghoul we know. Basically, it's the prototype.

Anyway, Tokyo Ghoul is obviously not going to end, there will be a sequel. It doesn't happen often, but it still does happen sometimes with a few other mangas such as the Baki series. If you want another example, there is also Naruto (even if Naruto Shippuden wasn't separated from the first part in the tankoubons).

Ending a manga and drawing its continuation as a sequel is a well-known way to emphasize the fact that the story is entering a new phase.

It lasted for over 140 chapters, and that's a definite sign it was popular enough to last that long.

This is surprising. A sequel is probably on the way. I choose TG: Rezurection. The series has found success and the currect chapters can´t be resolved less then a volume. All that worldbuilding can´t be wasted space. And in Tokyo Ghoul Jack is just bad.

@newsmangajapon on Twitter claim there is no second part of Tokyo Ghoul planned but I'm not sure where they found this information.
