Well whatever it is, I hope it will be entertaining. Also that mini series better answer some questions that were left unanswered. I eagerly await it.

I read the title of the article and thought "Kishimoto's taking a year's break, good for him!" Then the article details his plans to work on Naruto throughout the next year! At least it's not weekly.
Poor Mrs. Kishimoto waited so long for a honeymoon! He better take her somewhere good! |

I liked Mario. Would be cool if Kishi made that into a full series.
If I recall, even Oda(One Piece) had his honeymoon already, and we all know Oda. |

It sounds unlikely based on the word of the article, but I would hope he would make a monthly series instead. It'd be a lot less work for him.
Then again, he did show that he can repeatedly produce two chapters' worth of material in a week, as was seen when Bench and Mario were drawn as Naruto was going on, as well as Naruto's chapters 699 and 700 drawn on the same week. Still, I would think he deserves a big load off. He's produced an international cultural phenomenon. I think he should feel satisfied. |

You really hear about this a lot when it comes to creators in Japan. Miyazaki the workaholic, Eichiro Oda sleeps four hours a day, these guys probably have the best work ethic on the planet

Afraid to let go of Naruto completely eh Kishimoto, I dont blame you, I doubt you will be able to achieve another sucess in the same scale of Naruto, few mangaka have the talent to actually make hit after hit, with a super hit like Naruto is even harder.
However not letting of naruto is even more dangerous, countless mangaka have been unable to let go of their hit only to become a mere shadow of their former self's and trapped on a single hit continuing to ride a wave that lost its force already, stalled forever. Let it go for good Kishimoto, and you might still have a slim chance to be able to keep shinging as a mangaka. |

? I'm confused. While Kishimoto is still continuing to work on Naruto stuff in the coming year, the article specifically says that he will eventually be making a non-Naruto story, and even puts a general date on it. It's not like he's saying, "please look forward to Naruto the Sequel"! |

that's an understatement considering dragon quest is more popular than hunter x hunter. kinda surprised it haven't gotten a manga or anime project as yet. |

His oneshot "Mario" published in Jump SQ which is a monthly magazine, right? I feel like he will serialize Mario on Jump SQ after he finished Naruto mini series on weekly Jump

I don't think he's worried about his next work being a huge hit. The creator of Rurouni Kenshin has Embalming, and Hiroyuki Takei(Shaman King) has had two or three series.
And even going a little older, Masakazu Katsura, who did Wingman in the 80s, has had Video Girl Ai, I"s, and is still making Zetman today. |

There was a Dragon Quest anime back in the '80s. It's in the Encyclopedia. I hope for the best for Kishimoto's new manga. I hope he doesn't make like Watsuki and end up with a Gun Blaze West on his hands... |
