Looks absolutely amazing. I hope Sunrise can agree a quick deal with overseas licensors so we can see this as soon as it's come out.

Hopefully a deal that doesn't have us buying each episode for 50-70 dollars a pop.

Yeah, but in order to not pay that price you'll be looking at a delayed release.

Or like the Gundam Unicorn release.

That's fine. I'm going to want to collect all of this and not get screwed over like with Unicorn's bankrupting release. I still don't have those last two episodes and probably never will.

Seconded; if Japan's going to worry about "reverse importation" I'd sooner they demand the minor inconvenience of delayed releases rather than high prices and low episode counts.

/Sarcasm on

Penguintruth you're not enough Gundam fan. Shame on you.
Bandai deserves the money you know that. Gundam is Gundam for pete's sake. Or you could take the other route, learn Italian and get the gorgeous Unicorn Blu-rays with translated booklets, postcards and o-cover for 30 € each which is 37 $ per BD volume.

/Sarcasm off

Seriously, the only way to get English editions of Gundam The Origin that are not overpriced is to wait for a localised edition. The moment Bandai puts the English track on their blu-rays american fans are f*****k pricewise.

So NYAV Post is going to do the English dub, guess the chances of getting Michael Kopsa and Alania Burnett to reprise their role as Char and Sala are very very low.

Yes most likely Keith Silverstein will voice Char. However he'll barely get lines because this first OVA focuses on child Char so I wonder who that actor will be.

Is there really that big a demand? I mean, yeah, Kopsa was a pretty good Char, but it's not like it's an iconic performance. It was upsetting he wasn't in the Zeta Gundam dub, but Gundam the Origin is kind of a different beast. It's been a long, long time since Kopsa played Char.

Frankly NYAV did a better job with Unicorn than Ocean did with MSG. Not that I dislike the MSG dub (it was good), but Unicorn's dub was probably the best English version in the whole franchise.

I guess we won't be seeing Nanai Miguel from Char's Counterattack?

Well, I could give you one good reason: Somebody on another thread has said that Alania Burnett would love to reprise her role as Sayla Mass if she was given an opportunity. I know the chances is low, but I would love to hear her voicing Sayla again. I don't know if Michael Kopsa can reprise his role.

I can't imagine it would be a very big role, since it looks like Casval and Artesia are children for most of this first part.

I hope Nanai won't be in it. The Rals are a different matter because in Gundam 0079 Ramba Ral recognised Artesia so you can extrapolate from there. As for Nanai, there is no backstory that shows that even as a kid she had a 5 sec encounter with Casval. Putting here in would be like GL putting C3PO/R2D2 in every Star Wars movies ever made. Wait a minute, that's what he did. Rolling Eyes Twisted Evil

Nanai isn't in the manga, so I reckon the chances of throwing her in here are miniscule at best. In fact, nobody from the sequels is in it; Yas only uses characters who appear in the original show itself or his own originals.
