I can't say I'm surprised tbh. Season 2 had some pretty dark episodes with the graphic violence.

The way it is described in the article, I.G. made the film and then it got an R15 rating, rather than aimed for an R15 rating, which is a big difference.

They say the third Berserk movie was only given an R15+ rating, was it heavily censored for cinemas or something?

Season 2? Not in season one where a woman was assaulted in episode one, the culprit blown up in the same episode and the show revolves around numerous violent incidents including the public beating of another innocent?

Psycho-pass has always been violent, I'm kinda surprised it was only a 15.

I find it interesting that they give it this rating when there are TV series that you think would warrant this type of rating (though the censoring does happen and the uncensored versions are often reserved for the satellite channel versions).

The R-15 version of movie 3 had the genitalia censored out and that is IT. God i hate what Celsius 4 has done to poor Berserk. The manga is a masterpiece i swear !
Mardock has well handled sexual violence and is pretty good btw. As someone how likes PP S02 and was left cold by PP1 i find this news positive. No more off screen creepiness. Just give me a straightforward action/war movie and then i go home. And S02 is less dark. It just has more on-screen violence.

I'm a bit surprised that such little editing was sufficient. I mean, there would still be enough graphic content to warrant the R18 rating, even without the genitalia.

It's only for theaters, not TV or video releases though, which are either 18+ only or for everyone. The censoring might be done to preempt some controversy but also done for BD sales. Psycho-Pass 2 is a late night, 1am - 4am+ show on most channels. Parasyte is broadcast uncensored and so are live action movies (which is the norm) so I'm sure if they really wanted to, they could too.

If you're going to have a rating system, I think something like that is much better, as it's much more concrete, defined and relies less on subjective evaluation. Besides, highschoolers are young adults anyways.

I hope this movie will be so great that it makes everyone forget about the season 2... Please, let us all pretend it never happened

Are we *sure* Kougami is showing up in the movie? Throughout season 2 spoiler[Akane has hallucinated/fantasized about Kougami, but he hasn't actually shown up. Yet.]

So I take it there will be no delectable kabe-don scenes with Kou & Akane due to this rating..?

Le sigh.

So are these the only anime films who have gotten those ratings? I mean Redline, Strike Witches, Sora no Otoshimono, King of Thorn all got G ratings. Anyone know what Ninja Scroll or Akira were rated?
