Wow nice. This shows a lot of support of the series and I'm glad to see the results so far Smile

I'm happy that the KickStarter has started, but the Tier Level Rewards aren't very appealing, and the extremely low number of add-ons (only 2) is a bit disappointing. I hope it'll change at a later date.

The prior story from October said this

animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-10-10/sekai-project-plans-kickstarter-campaign-for-grisaia-games/.79805

Quote:
Sekai Project will offer the uncut mature versions of the games in both physical and digitial editions. It will also offer the all-ages versions at least digitally, through the Steam platform or through its own platform.

Now the Kickstarter only has the all ages Vita port, what happened?

Character archetypes ftw. They forgot the token black.

And it hasn't even been picked up by Kotaku yet. Expect another bump when it is...

Already pledged on the $180 tier. Smile

Hopefully sekaiproject holds true to their word of separate uncut releases afterwards...

I feel the same and that's why I'm not pledging. I have no use for a scantily clad female dakimakura nor a bedsheet. If I lived in a remote area where attending conventions and buying sketches was prohibitively expensive, then, yes, the 3K and 5K tiers would be a deal. But, as I don't, it's not cost effective for me to support those tiers when I have other alternatives.

To be honest I have found all of Sekai Project's campaigns to be disappointing. Not in terms of of titles, but just the tiers and content. You can be sure it is due to licencing and the Japanese publishers. But still the game tiers are costly with very few extras. If anything counts as "preorders" on KS, Sekai's campaigns are the definition of it. At least this one is more sane than Clannad and actually includes the physical copy in the higher tiers, rather than an addon.

About the rewards, I would've like some kind of artbook as I'm not into the dakimakura, sheets or large tapestries either.

I really hope so too. I pledged for the physical set with OST, but on the condition about hearing news about the uncut release before the campaign ends.

If every project you publish on Kickstarter is wildly successful, do you really need to continue using Kickstarter?

It's perhaps more of an issue convincing the Japanese publishers...

For now, yes. The reason for that being because Sekai Project is too small right now to be able to produce the funds needed to localize these visual novels - not to mention that a lot of the companies they are working with are somewhat hesitant.

However, now that Sekai Project has gotten off the ground with these successes, perhaps they will be able to freely go after more licenses. Maybe more Japanese VN companies will start taking notice, too.

To be fair they have started doing ALOT of games without a kickstarter.
It is only for what is normally considered untouchable stuff that they do this.
Also to be totally fair it is not like we are not getting a lot of very nice stuff at reasonable prices (most of the time).

Oh, I definitely agree. I'm quite impressed with what Sekai Project has managed to do in so little time. I just think it's unrealistic when people wonder why they use Kickstarter for VNs like Clannad or a trilogy of games like Grisaia.

Personally, I'm pleased with Sekai Project's methods so far.
