Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!? I hope they dub it. I was expecting Funimation to license the Hayate the Combat Butler anime franchise, but Sentai Filmworks works as well.

I think the chance of HtCB getting an English version isn't that high, since Crunchyroll already picked up seasons 1 and 3 of the show.

I remember seeing a dub for this a long time ago, so maybe Sentai can rescue that one?

Edit: Looked it up, it was Animax that dubbed it. I hope Sentai can dub it themselves then, I don't know what the chances are of a rescue for that one.

I hope this means Sentai will eventually be re-releasing the first two HtCB series. That would kind of make me love them (more).

Given that it's Sentai, though, I doubt it'll be much of an improvement over the Animax dub.

Either way, it's not being dubbed this time, if you look at the April 2015 slate.

If season 3 of Hayate no Gotoku can get licensed, why can't season 2? And while you're at it, Sentai, you might as well rescue the first season!

I don't think sentai's dubs are that bad, some of my favorite voice actors get a lot of their work their (so that's more of my own bias)

The 2009 2nd season by JC Staff was never licensed for a home video release to begin with. Skiptai Filmworks strikes again, though I guess with this being an anime-original story, the impact isn't as bad.

What April 2015 slate? They don't have anything listed yet. I do agree that April '15 is likely too soon, even for a typical Sentai rushed subtitle script readthrough. EDIT: Maybe Sentai should update their own website before sending stuff out elsewhere.

one problem. sentai as most dubbers all know too well that their infamous for going the same route as media blasters ,aniplex and nozumi animation / right stuff for giving a majority of their series the sub only treatment and only give it a dub if it sells well enough or is very popular fanwise in both countries like what happened with clannad. for example they licensed gintama and eyeshield 21 , but never gave them an english dub at all.

however popular series like the OVA Queens Blade and Infinite Stratos which are popular in the otaku community for both countries get dubs. But that too is also not guaranteed cause though zero no tsukaima got licensed the chances of those seasons getting dubbed is highly slim to none. and of course the biggest travesty is of course that mahou shoujo lyrical nanoha strikers haven't been licensed by anyone though sentai was the main bet for that which means there is obviously a reason why US companies apparently blacklisted the series. let alone any news of the new series being probably being stream licensed.

and of course there are series like highschool of the dead & some type moon series like Fate Stay Night and the Prisma Illya spinoff will usually get the auto HYB treatment but is very rare.

SO just because they licensed this new series of hayate doesnt necessarily mean it will get a dub cause if bandai never released a dub when they had the original series, then you have to know the chances of this one getting a dub is almost non existent though i definitely want this series as well as the originals to get licensed and received a good dub version since the animax versions as usual are insanely atrocious.

I hope Sentai rescues and licenses the older ones and releases them on blu-ray. I guess that may take a while.

@jr0904
They seem to be dubbing more and more now, (my impression is about half?), but the dub quality is overall mediocre IMO, mostly I think due to the voice direction and just being rushed. The last two Sentai dubs I checked out were The Book of Bantorra and From The New World. In Bantorra, Hamyuts and her male partner sounded fantastic, very natural and subtle, fitting their persona. However, the rest of the cast sounded very cheesy and overacted. Due to the stars of the show sounding great and the fact that it was a non-Japanese universe, I could tolerate the others.

But for From the New World, all the protagonists and young characters sounded like they were in a Saturday morning cartoon for kids. The JP version used female seiyuu and remained more subtle while the dub used male actors trying to sound like kids. I couldn't stand it. I am anticipating the same type of acting in Hayate the Combat Butler if they dub it.
