This Saturday, January 24, the block will run from 11:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. EST and will not air a new episode of Attack on Titan.

That was this past Saturday, and as it's been corrected in past discussions, Attack on Titan hasn't aired a new episode on Toonami since early November anyways. All that's been removed is a rerun. Not sure how you expect them to air a new episode when there's no new episodes in Japan until 2016!

In all seriousness though, this is extremely distressing. Previously we thought they were only losing the 5am hour, but now they're losing 3 hours. That's nearly half the block, taking with it a lot of long-running Adult Swim anime staples. It's a definite sign that the block is struggling, and they need to get things back on track ASAP or else this ship is going to sink.

If Toonami disappears, then I would stop tuning into that channel. Nothing that plays in Adult Swim interests me. I personally find shows like Family Guy, American Dad, Bob's Burgers etc... to be really boring.

I think the casuals are going to be turned off by the fanservice in Kill la Kill. I'd like to see Mahouka get a shot(or Fate/Zero) but both are too intelligent for the block since Durarara flopped hard.

Not ready for doom and gloom yet but it's definitely a few steps backwards.

Durarara flopped because it was airing when Adult Swim's anime block was at its absolute lowest and they were seriously considering jettisoning anime until the Toonami April Fools night succeeded. Durarara would probably have done much better if it came on a year later than it did.

IMO, hey have too many reruns. How many times can someone watch AoT anyway? That show's best moments came from surprises.

TBH, I think linear anime airings useless when you can watch whatever you want at your own pace, and never run out of things to watch.

True. What toonami fan hasn't seen DBZ at this point?
Then there's Deadman which already aired. Your toonami or causal anime fan has probably seen TTGL on SyFy or online. It's 7 years old.

Inuyasha FA is so all over the place that it's better to keep it on as background noise.

Naruto has been in a dead zone ever since Sai was introduced.

Finally, it's criminal that One Piece is still on Enies Lobby and won't reach Thriller Bark till next year.

I assume Toonami is banking everything on Kill La Kill.

Toonami dug it's own grave with re-runs, now it needs to dig itself out.

I think One Piece needs to go and be replaced with Fairy Tail. But that's just me.

Think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts, think happy thoughts....

It's not all doom and gloom (Yet), but like bleachjoj said, it's a few step backwards.

As much as I love watching Space Dandy and Attack on Titan, I want to watch new stuff. Stuff I hadn't got around to grabbing yet. I'm also kind of burnt out on Cowboy Bebop. And I'm now the proud owner of the aforementioned series. There's just so many times I can keep watching repeats.

I know Adult Swim already have a comedy block and Toonami is suppose to be all action, but I wonder if it's possible for Toonami to air both action AND comedy anime. You know, show a little bit of variety. There's other series besides Attack on Titan, Cowboy Bebop, and Dragon Ball Z. But I'm not too naive to know getting new series cost a bundle. And Adult Swim made it clear they hate anime.

Also, there are some series they probably can't air on TV. I'm looking at you, Berserk and Speedgrapher.

I think the stagnation of showing nothing but action-based anime next to constant repeats is the reason why for the 3 hour cutback.

Also they say there's a chance those series will return, and hopefully, the 3 hours back. It's a long shot, but it can be done.

I just hope it won't wind up like last time. We just got you back, Toonami. We don't want to lose you again.

Toonami, if you're reading, here are a few free ideas. Get these shows, it'll boost ratings.

Hataraku Maou-sama.
Psycho-Pass
Mahouka.
JoJo's bizzare adventure.
Cross Ange.

OK, that last one was a joke.

If there's any solace in this, at least the folks won't have to struggle to stay up past 2AM to watch InuYasha.

But yes...It seems that Toonami's incessant use of reruns of their most popular shows has taken a toll on the viewers.
