It's kind of sad that I've only heard about Women's Month because of Mangagamer. I've lived my whole life in the generally very liberal California, yet no one talks about it.

Women make some of the best ecchi art in manga, anime, and video games, so a salute to them. I'm currently playing through Neptunia Re;birth 2 on the Vita.

I'm loving the irony that a company that releases localized Japanese harem eroge that primarily features drawn female characters in compromising poses/situations is celebrating women's history month.

That would be like YaoiCon celebrating Veterans' Day with doujinshi Hetalia artwork.

Women also make good H-loli and non-hentai series with them.

I have to say it makes me happy to hear from women who are actual industry professionals as opposed to whoever has the loudest voice in these types of situations.

Try telling that to people who would consider such material to be considered part of the so-called "rape culture".

Try telling them what, that it's ironic, or that he's loving it? Pretty sure any sane, reasonably minded person would agree with the former, and the latter was likely a sarcastic statement. I'd rather not comment on the latter half of your statement, given the attitudes it implies you hold...

Like, somewhere along the line due to hanging out with a bunch of people who talked about sex all the time and also playing a bunch of eroge, I went from “oh my god stop talking about sex that’s gross!!” to “please play this porn game I translated guys it’s great.”

Curiosity and having friends with those interests is one way to overcome taboos

Quote:
But as a person with no real interest or experience in Sex Stuff, I sometimes feel like I shouldn’t be translating it (and then I think that there must be plenty of people in the eroge business who also aren’t interested in 3D hahaha).

Fascinating. Even among guys who prefer 2D > 3D, I have not heard of any who would reject the real thing who had all the bodily features of their ideal waifu.

Funny story, I accidentally left the game open on my monitor and came back to my boyfriend’s mother looking at a very interesting CG. That was uh… something! Haha.

Funny. But at least she didn't call the cops on you!

lizardking461, I meant it to be ironic.

B-b-b-but eroge oppresses women! How are they coping with their internalized misogyny!?

I wish the link worked, I'm interested in this since many artists I like are female.

The blog seems to be down, as well as the main site, for the moment.

Because Japan doesn't subscribe to the messed up belief that sexiness is misogynistic. And as many problems as they have, that's one thing I agree with them on.

Both men and women are constantly objectified in Japanese pop culture so I don't think anyone's getting the short end of the stick in that regard.

This along with women actually being present in the manga, anime, and video game industries in Japan probably alleviates the problems and complaints we see about the western industries. Feminine culture is also not demonized in Japanese culture like certain groups here do, so it allowed for genres like magical girl and idol anime to grow in popularity and give people of all ages and genders to watch and enjoy, fostering a more diverse lineup.
