The funny thing is that 87 million yen is still "only" around $800k. People get settlements for more than that for doing stupid stuff to themselves all the time. Meanwhile, these actors and actresses bust their butts for a studio or two, get screwed out of royalties and this is what they're given. Sad.

Japanese seiyuu are almost treated like royalty by anime fans. This is the first I've heard of any complaints by any of them.

This seems rather small, considering the vast amount of class-action suits in the US.

If $790,000 is distributed evenly among 360 VA's, each one would get about $2,195. If the lawsuit were $1 Million, then each would get $2,775. You can figure out the rest from there.

good for the actors. I agree $2000 for each person is very light. Mariko-chan is one of my fav animes.

It is unfortunate that Voice Actors (and Animators) don't get nearly enough respect.

I hope this experience can help the Voice Actors in the future.

maybe so, but the only reason we have so many class-action lawsuits in the US because it is a quick way for laywers to become millionaires... of course I wouldn't mind but after laywer fees, court cost, and taxes the person who won the case would be lucky to get 30% of the total winnings... Shocked
