I hadn't realized this was coming out as singles rather than season sets. Is Nisekoi really popular enough to sell in this format?

for me , this was the highest point of the series, is all downhill after this; also, the fanservice nevers get to the level, of let's say ranma.

Whether it is or not, they're doing it. This is Aniplex we're talking about, after all.

And something I would like to see someone familiar with the rest of the series comment on in a non-spoilerish way: is there really much plot advancement in the remaining 10 episodes and OVAs? I'm not likely to get the next installment before the Spring season (and thus the sequel series) starts, so I want to know if I'm going to need to watch ahead or not to be ready for the second season.

(For instance, I know an additional harem member gets added at some point. Does that happen during this season?)

I've read the manga, and yes there is more plot progression in this season that is kind of needed/is helpful for what will be coming in the second season.

Still is not doing anything remarkably different (beyond its art style) by harem series standards.

And it stays that way. The first 5 episodes were enjoyable because it seemed to be somewhat of a parody on the genre, but as you get further into it, it becomes more clear that it's really just another generic addition to the harem genre. Still a reasonably fun show, but nothing worthy of a second season, in my opinion.

As long as they make profit from it, there will be more seasons Smile and seems like they see a big potential here. For me, if im having fun while watching, it is a good anime. I dont need good stories and stuff like that. It is harem and it is fun Smile

It is normal harem romantic comedy. Story and character it is nothing special, but I can see how some people would like it.

Sure, but Aniplex USA doesn't only release singles, right? I think they put out Silver Spoon as a season set at a less-than-ludicrous price, without attempting to put it out as singles.

I'm sort of going with the theory that they are just playing around with their releases to see if people prefer getting shows quicker, or whether they'd rather wait for a box set. Just a theory though.
As far as Silver Spoon getting a box set... well, it is a DVD only release, and the show didn't sell very well in Japan, so that probably isn't a great comparison.

They don't seem to be planning singles for Aldnoah, FSN or Mushishi either, so I don't think it's going to be an "across the board" thing from now on.

I think that's a pretty big generalization. Just because it is profitable doesn't mean it'll continue to be made. I get what you mean though. For me, the fun sort of goes away the longer a generic harem goes on. You can only entertain me with the same jokes and the same characters for so long(especially if they continue to drag out any sort of plot progression as much as they did this season) , so I'd rather just move on to a different one. There are plenty to choose from. Wink

this series really needs a more proper release, and maybe a dub. releasing it in 4-5 episode compilations and putting a $50 price tag on it just seems wrong, i can't think of any reason to justify it. you're better off just watching it on crunchyroll or youtube.

Everyone's got a key, everyone's a conveniently forgotten childhood friend...and that's about it.

One of the best RomCom's in years. The art style and vibrant colors are gorgeous. And the soundtrack is so damn pleasant to listen to. To me, it's something akin to Animal Crossing, believe it or not. The simple, yet soothing melodies of the marimbas and accordions. I just love this series.

Nisekoi is totally generic but for some reason I actually enjoy watching/reading it a lot more than... Well, 90% of harems. Not anywhere near Toradora levels but still a fun series with a cast I actually enjoy watching interact.
