As soon as I saw that Denki-Gai was considered rental shelf, I pretty much knew what the first paragraph would say, and I have to agree with it. Unless you're really, really into a show, it is pretty hard to justify that price.

I was pleasantly surprised to see D-frag as a shelf-worthy title. I picked it up pretty recently and enjoyed my time with it quite a bit, but the review is spot on in that this one is probably not great for marathon viewing.

That Blu of Ninja Scroll is just the same disc with new artwork, right?

I'd been on the fence up until now, but I see I need to add D-Frag to my to-buy list.

I saw a few days ago where PonyCan US confirmed that they are not interested in doing standard editions, so as far as I'm concerned they are the kiss of death for any series that they distribute here in North America. Really sad. Crying or Very sad

Of the episodes included in this volume, I enjoyed "Panties in the Spring" the most.

"Really mom, there's nothing weird about me being a girl in her mid-twenties and still liking anime." Laughing

It's kind of ironic to me that Denki-Gai and D-FRAG are being reviewed here at the same time. They were both shows that I really wanted to enjoy but just couldn't get into when they were airing. D-FRAG was just too high school harem-ey to be intersting to me, but I might give Denki-Gai another shot someday. But on crunchyroll, definitely not at $23 an episode.

...and Germany.

Glad to hear D-Frag getting some love. And the dub was top notch as well. Definitely need to grab this up soon.

...you know you've been using a smartphone too long when you expect word correction while typing on computer.

From everything I've read across the forms, various news sites this is the case. This release comes with a new slip cover but everything else is exactly the same as the previously released Blu Ray, back in December, 2012.

I enjoyed D-Frag quite a bit, found many of the gags hilarious. I haven't heard the dub yet, but I think I may watch the show again with the dub once I procure it.

My one gripe about D-Frag is that it introduced an abundance of characters in a very short span of time. I mean, I assume Roka was supposed to be the female lead, but she was continuously overshadowed by newer additions to the series. Other than that, though, I thought it was a consistently entertaining comedy.

I've always preferred the original OVAs to 2040, but that's not to say that 2040 is devoid of merit. It just lacks so much of the oomph and unforgettable music that made the original such a fan classic.

It's really hard for me to believe whenever I hear people say the music in 2040 is not as good as the OVA. I'm not saying I dislike the OVA's soundtrack, but the one for 2040 is filled with catchy hard-rock tunes that has aged considerably better. Plus, 2040 tells an actual story with a beginning, middle and end, one that admittedly gets wild and crazy, but it's still more than one can say for the OVA.

Yeah it's really sad that they're bringing over pretty much everything that the Japanese got, at half price & with a really quick release schedule.

Anime smallmouth + sweatdrop

I thoroughly enjoyed my copy Denki Gai volume 2. The pre-order bonus art print was really cute and it's also worth mentioning that the booklet is now properly TLed, like volume 1 of Yuki Yuna.

If you read the D-Frag Manga they joke about that sometimes.

"Oh who are you"
"He got introduced in the last chapter don't you remember"

They break the fourth wall to reference that characters are brought in and then just shuffled off the next chapter, In the fighting for the bag thing they just write off half the characters while Kenji is asleep, or X number of members from the Band of 14 Devils are just "Out sick" or "Absent today"

I would love for D-Frag to get another season, but I doubt it will happen. That's saying a lot since anime humor is typically hit or total miss for me.

Gotta got the sense the makers of the anime were hoping for one, since it kinda just....ends.

That said, fantastic dub by Funimation.

Wow, you're insufferable.

How is the manga by the way? Would you say it's definitely worth a read if you enjoyed the show?
