I'm wondering if all those unreleased Bandai Entertainment license rescues will be released under this too.

AKA The Titles We Didn't Sell to Funimation Right Before We Stopped Being ADV. Because that would take up too much space on the side of the box

Quite possibly. Even though it would be Sentai's first crack at those shows, there is still the fact that they would all be rereleases of shows from several years ago. Then again, I could see them being at the regular price since many of those shows are out of print and even the regular price looks cheap compared to what out-of-print stuff can cost.

I'm not surprised that Sentai will start doing a line of cheaper rerleases of older titles. Funimation has managed to make it work for them with the Anime Classics and SAVE lines.

Wouldn't surprise me if some former Bandai titles did end up under this branding.

The key thing is that they are trying to provide a back catalog of titles to newer fans so that they can build up their collections, at an affordable price point. We'll have to see how this works out in practice, but I do like the idea.

I was just thinking of getting the Appleseed Blu-Ray too. I'm surprised they didn't start it with their upcoming rerelease of Ninja Scroll.

I'd love if they could re-release Loki Ragnarok.

If there is one former Bandai Title that should get saved it would be Gosick...despite it being licensed by them it never got a chance to be released not even sub only before the company went under.

I am also not surprised they started there own classics line, Funimation has been doing great business with it's Save and Anime classics division. it is good business strategy

NA anime physical releases are typically priced at low prices, but I suppose Sentai could make some money if they add their poor sellers to this budget line. I imagine their sub-only releases do not sell as well as dubbed stuff.

And like others have said, this classics line could also be used for their Sunrise rescues.

THIS THIS THIS. I have been advocating for this for years, it's a shame such a wonderful series has failed to be released in the US after 4-5 years. But, I don't think it will fall under this category considering it has never been release before.

Still needs to happen though.

"Classic" in the way Lacy from Corner Gas added the word to everything so it would sell better.

I don't get it myself; Sentai's been quietly rereleasing ADV/Geneon/Whathaveyou titles for years and only now do they think they should advertise it?

"Reversible cover" + "Budget line" = Funimation's SAVE line or maybe whatever Mediablaster's label was; "Shortlived"? I'd say I was skeptical if it wasn't the perfect point to say I'm cynical.

Just a feeling that it's going to be the same titles that they've been rereleasing since they reformed, such illustrious titles like Divergence EVE and Godanner or Mahoromatic and Rozen Maiden. Some titles even had multiple rereleases, like they're tying to maintain a copyright or something.

On the other hand, I've always wondered what happened to Azumangadaioh or, well, that title... you know the one. The girl, the other girl, the guy, the giant robot...

But the Sunrise titles they rescued not all that recently? They're neither titles handed to them or series produced under their own label gathering dust because no one wants them anymore at that price. I'm pretty sure they paid for them.

Yep, cynical. I'll try to give it a fair chance but they're following Funimation's lead more than seven years late and it's not like a budget line did MB any good. At least, I think since it's hard to tell anything with those guys.

Two factors messing up the NA anime market: Region A BDs driving prices up and Funimation's SAVE line driving prices down. The bets are on which ones going to choke the market first.

it's better if FUNI rescues Azumanga Daioh, Not Sentai.

Well this pleases me a bit as this means more shows will have reversible-covers (Assuming they're not like S.A.V.E. covers, an ugly banner cover, and a clean one, and they're actually two different covers), but I have to wonder what this means for the initial release of shows going forward. I don't think I need to explain what's wrong with the initial release having nothing but white/black on the inside (One of the biggest issues I have with Sentai releases, the lack of inside artwork), and the re-release having something. I'd still double-dip for reversible-covers but....

Enough with the CG Appleseeds, even if the original OVA isn't that good either I'd still rather see that on BD.
