That's pretty late for an anime adaptation as mainstream as Negima. I'm guessing that means it'll have most of the fanservice of the manga.

Although I am glad that this manga is turning into an anime, I wish so much that they would have waited for the manga to finish so it wouldn't suffer the same fate that Love Hina did by butchering the ending. How can the last 3 episodes of Love Hina cover 4-5 volumes of manga. So many other series have suffered this fate, lets hope that this on is at least pretty close.

Is the manga finished in Japan, or at least a volume away from finishing? I sure hope they don't do what they did with Love Hina with Negima.

There in the 8th volume in the weekly version, and they seem to be introducing a new (or "the") major bad guy organization, and there are a few major characters they haven't talked about yet. It won't end for a while.

I love the Love Hina Manga. Heck is my first manga I bought since they changed the format to tabukon. But the anime sucked. So hopefully the anime version of Negima will be more honest. Even if the cut a lot of the fan service.

BTW Did you guys notice the 1am time slot?
Is that Tokyo time?

1am Tokyo time, yes. MP actually labels it as 1/5 @ 25:00 -- for whatever reason, some Japanese networks prefer listing after-midnight shows as 25:00-26:00-27:00, etc, instead of 1:00-2:00-3:00.

I don't understand the logic behind it, though.

I'm not quite sure myself, but I believe the idea is that since people are going to treat 1AM as part of their previous day, rather than consider it part of the next day, they're just going to label the timeslots as if they were an extension of the previous day.

So basically it would be like saying "I'm going to stay up until 2AM on Thursday (technically Friday) night to watch this show," rather than "I'm going to watch this show at 2 in the morning on Friday."

At least that's my guess. Maybe I'll ask some Japanese people to clarify it.

I've already seen the special/promo to the Negima anime quite sometime ago, it seems somewhat promising from what I've watched. Its only 6 minutes long but its got its fair share of fan service already in it - some parts were altered such as where Negi sneases at Asuna but thats to be expected really ^^. Personally I can't wait for its release, I hope it won't let us down like Love Hina did too much. Shame it probably won't get licensed though til Summer 2005 (at earliest), boo.

Bandai and Geneon is probably already hot on this for the US License. If it isn't picked up by Spring 2005, I would be shocked.

I bloody well hope not, anyway... Negima isn't exactly "4Kids" is it now? So I doubt it'll happen!
