I'm still worried how this will turn out. The live actions movies had the advantage of limited screen time, so they had to get rid of all the filler and it turned out better that way. This, sadly, doesn't have that constraint, so a dragging plot is possible.

I hope it doesn't drag like the anime...

How did the anime drag? They even cut out stuff from the manga. Like most of Near's reasoning.

Since the didn't reveal Ryuk's actor yet, I'm going to assume that we shall one again see that ugly piece of crap that they've shown us in the movies.

Please explain. I've read both the manga and seen the anime and I'm at a loss as to what you're referring to there.

It's exactly what he said. The anime leaves out a lot of Near's reasoning, so he came across as making huge leaps in logic when actually his suspicions were more considered than that.

This is just a personal opinion, but I find that it dragged along with lot of unnecessary scenes that had nothing to do with the plot. If you're only watching the anime, you don't notice it, but after seeing the movies, you realise just how long it takes for anyone to do anything.

Also, once again this is just an opinion, but after L dies, I find the series stops relying on logic and just on big plot twists.

I just like to pretend the anime ends after L dies. As I suspect many people do. Rolling Eyes

Exactly. In the manga, there was at least one entire chapter dedicated to just Near making deductions based on observations. In the anime, he just kind of uses psychic powers or something to suss out that there's another Kira and it's Mikami.

The scene is very weird when he does this. They kind of pan around him as his eyes glow, like he's magic or something.

I know everybody hates Near, but personally he might be my favorite character, and I thought it did a disservice to him when they skipped his deductions.

I guess it would have taken up too much time or something.
