Surprised about this. With 7+ volumes, it can easily be adapted into 2 cour if done right.

Very interesting! Not sure what to expect but if it's Sci fi it could be something I'd be interested in.

Looks interesting. I really enjoyed the King of Thorn movie so I'll probably check this out.

Literally the biggest surprise at AX so far. I mean it's one thing that we get an anime announcement before Japan but another when an american licensing, dubbing, and distributing company actually has a viable "role" in producing an anime. This is really big news for the future of anime as it becomes more and more globalized and not just a cultural thing intrinsic to Japan.

God damn, I can't wait for the Sunrise AX panel and what kinds of new anime they'll announce there since they've mostly been quiet about their future plans.

So, FUNimation is pulling an ADV, ehh spoiler[(heh, the irony…)]? I am definitely down for some Iwahara-designed works, which are so few-and-far between. I hope they keep a light hand and just let the studio(s) do their thing…

As long as the creators are able to make what they want, its all well and good. Especially for genres/themes that are popular in the West but not in Japan to have a second chance/easier to green-light. Authors that can't find funding from Japanese companies can look to companies like FUNi to help. If it all works like that, I hope it becomes a thing more often.

If this is what the anime industry is like in the next few years, I'm almost certain American distributors will push for a full Trigun Maximum adaptation.

The art style, overall aesthetic and character designs really appeal to me! The plot looks kind of interesting, and I enjoyed Darker Than Black... I'm excited for this!

But hopefully, this doesn't end up some forgotten 12-episode schlock (assuming that it ends up being a series at all), and instead ends up being an effort on FUNi's part that can be looked upon fondly. I've heard of anime that got made due to the backing of American licensing companies before and, sadly, I've never heard of them being anything better than "meh" at best.

FUNimation has uploaded the preview video that they aired during their AX panel to their YouTube channel:

Woah, cool, totally digging that art style and the look of the show in the trailer, this looks freaking great. And the music track in the trailer. The characters feel nice and lively in the brief footage.

LOL at asking her to get in, followed by her response, and then finally the reveal that he opened the trunk not the door, that made me laugh.

How could anyone enjoy that movie? The manga is so much better and more interesting.

Anyway, this sounds pretty interesting. Can't believe i've never heard of it before.

It's nothing new really, in fact it happened quite a bit over a decade ago. Like ADV and Geneon were on a few production committees, but that was partly because licensing costs were so damn high. Hopefully this isn't a sign FUNimation is getting too full of themselves and will meet the same fate as those two did... Then again they did just pick up 15 brand new summer shows at once...

They have to be wise with what they do here if they try to get on more production committees.

His Darker than Black manga was better than the entire second season. I wish he made more.
