Somewhat confused by the article. By new series, it means a new arc related to the World Trigger world right? Hmm...or is it an entirely brand new series with connections to the franchise?

Edit: after reading it more carefully, it looks like a separate new series considering that World Trigger will end in mid-October if no broadcast will be interrupted.

maybe it's World Trigger KAI? world trigger will no filler (previously on, etc.) ? Laughing

for a 50 episode series..it feels like one of those 600+ episode series or something..

they didn't include various things in the anime.. so the anime is catching up to the manga.. :/

world trigger is a good series.. but will not re-watch it again

Yes. I'm quite fond of the show; it isn't too serious, or too "amateurish fun." It provides a good 20-minute relaxation on a weekly basis.

They chose to make original story for the the series because the current ongoing already catched up on the manga and the manga is currently in hiatus.

Nah i'd say the main reason is because the manga isn't doing the best in the rankings. (been below Bleach for most of the year, that means its in the danger zone.)

The staff is also quiet insane but were held back by adapting so this original series could be absolutely unreal. (Two of the main scripters of the anime have worked on Gundam, Code Geass, and Toradora.) Not to mention the director directed the great Outlaw Star and the person behind the music is the person behind the GITS and GITS Innocence ost's. If you had that staff and let them loose.... This new original anime could be insane..... Could be....

Where did you get that idea from? WT has improved in the rankings, at times beating Nisekoi and Toriko and has never been at the lower end below Bleach as far as I can recall. Bleach is always at the bottom, and WT isn't really ranked anymore considering the numerous breaks every other month/week due the author's poor health.
It got a decent sales boost too, with it selling more than a million copies in the first half of the year if I'm not mistaken.

The anime is up to Chapter 86, with the next episode covering at least up to Chapter 88. For comparison, the manga is around 107 or so chapters now. They won't have enough material to keep going at this rate, so it makes sense for them to go into a filler arc/original material for awhile.

It's just a filler arc, but disguised as a separate series because they really do need that much time to allow Ashihara to build up a buffer. They're already coming up dangerously close on the manga's ass, and it certainly doesn't help matters that the manga regularly takes skip weeks due to the author's chronic health condition (nothing life-threatening, but quite painful and inconvenient for a manga author).

That being said, I'm genuinely shocked to learn that the anime is directed by a big-name director, because it is astonishingly poorly directed.

I'm looking at the rankings right now, from its latest rank to its may rank -
9th
13th
absent
9th
absent
11th
5th
absent
colour page
10th
absent
absent

Do note that Nisekoi was always above it. And all of the series ranked below it (besides Bleach) have already been cancelled. Also, I got these from Crunchyroll
