And that each year, for 26 years(I think), they've released a movie. Shocked

Talk about long lasting. Doraemon's picture should be added to the dictionary's definition of "durable".

Now if only Doraemon would come over here. Crying or Very sad

If you're going to give an anime that distinction, Sazae-san has Doraemon beat, both in terms of total half-hours (1800) and in terms of longetivity (running weekly since 1969).

ShoPro has it, but I can't possibly imagine how anyone could handle such a license.

They can do like they do with the Lupin the 3rd series, have one company handle the TV series, another do the yearly movies. Unless ShoPro has the rights to both...

I don't think that's the problem-the problem is finding an audience for the show here in the US. They can't aim it at older kids,(too cute looking and nonviolent) and younger kids might be put off by the simplistic animation, especially in the more classic (to use a kind term) episodes. In Japan, Doremon is an icon, and that as much as anything keeps him going over there. In the US, he's so unknown that hardly anyone noticed when the FCC stole him to use as their mascot.

I guess the real question is, does ShoPro or whoever want to take the risk of bringing over a GIGANTIC series like that and having it be a failure?
