It is encouraging to see My Hero Academia get a good start when it doesn't have any sort of anime buzz yet. I think this could be a huge success for Viz further down the line as the hype grows.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure being 2nd place is great.I honestly didn't expect it from an almost 30 year old manga but as a JoJo fan I gotta say I'm satisfied

I think it is pretty incredible that it is doing so well this time around after Viz had a pretty unimpressive experience when they initially released part 3. I'm interested in seeing what their plains are once they finish releasing part 2.

It had a good run!

Not sure if I will check out My Hero Academia. May give it a few volumes to see what kind of reviews it gets. I guess that, as a comic book reader that reads a good amount of DC/Marvel, superheroes aren't what I look for outside those 2 companies.

Plus, reading a review for the first volume that said something like "typical JUMP series with typical protagonist, but executed well"...doesn't exactly make me feel like it's a must read.

Still, want to see how things go over 3 volumes or so before I decide.

My guess is that much higher than competitors since it has become the biggest internationally selling manga of all time, surpassing Dragon Ball (domestically and in absolute numbers, of course, One Piece is far beyond).

Or Not. 2,495 for Naruto Volume 70 in June, Tokyo Ghoul vol. 1 was released 2 weeks later and sold 2,215 in June.

If they were released on the same day and sold at similar rates to their actual releases, Tokyo Ghoul would have probably outsold it for the month...

Just remember, those are Diamond sales to comic book stores. Those still have to be added up to the Bookscan sales to bookshops.

One would assume sales from comic book specialists would be broadly similar to general book retailers. (Unless it's like here in the UK where comic book shops seem to have nothing to do with anything that isn't DC or Marvel.)
