Really glad to see this show being covered! I'm personally rather intrigued by it for many of the same reasons as Nick, probably my greatest being the big thematic hook here of youthful idealism versus the reality of big business. What I like is how despite the cast isn't fully developed yet, the documentary in episode 2 allowed everyone to feel more like people outside of standard anime archetypes.
It's a show I'm personally enjoying so far, so hopefully it keeps up the goodwill it garnered in these first few episodes (even if the humor incorporating Angelina in episode 3 wasn't great). Looking forward to the weekly write-ups! |

The show is good so far. The financial losses made me want to vomit blood. Throwing them out of Eden was what they needed.

I like Angelina and think she's a great addition to the cast- a hardline realist to balance things out so it's not just everyone versus Kiryu.
I also like the humor that comes with her- the professional accountant who so focused on her business life, she... yes, we all know the rest. But it isn't just another "oh look, our teacher is single! She's so sad!" set up, she's fully business up until the point she sees some young people and realizes she wants a little something on the side, or some such. I loved episode three's punchline by the way; Despite her appearance and demeanor, she's as much an inexperienced geek as Sera. Good move wiping out half the cast in episode three; It allows the show to focus on the smaller, more interesting core group while advancing a "getting the band back together" subplot. I'd like to see a little more development on the students as the only one I have a feel for is Iris. |

I smell a PR nightmare for the company in the near future. Simultaneously embezzling money from the company and crushing kids' dreams doesn't look good. They need a PR person to go over their schemes and tell them "Don't do that. It'll look terrible". I guess it's only wasting money when employees do it. When executives do it it's called share buybacks and raising dividends.

After I watched the first episode of Classroom Crisis, it reminded me of Bodacious Space Pirates. But CC is a different kind of show that is combining several things that I find intriguing.
I agree with Nick's grade for the first 3 episodes. I am liking the classroom aspect of the show, but the business side of things has been somewhat confusing for me. Still, I am up for the challenge and plan to keep watching this strange show. |

The first episode had me intrigued but the following two were rather underwhelming, i still don't care about any of the characters and the humor is fairly awful.
I'm still interested enough to keep watching but it's pretty low on my priority list now. |

My understanding is that Nagisa Kiyrū doesn't (necessarily) need or want a long-term turnaround for A-TEC. He needs a short-term improvement in its results for six months to a year that looks good on his resume so he can get promoted into his next position. The whole division can collapse or be cut after he leaves if need be. Sure, a long-term sustainable division looks even better, but his personal goal (and that of his personally loyal financial team) can still be reached without it. So there definitely still are conflicts between him and the A-TEC members. A-TEC is just one more stop on his fast track to executive success.
His brother Kazehisa, the company president, has been repeatedly setting Nagisa up to fail by assigning him to backwaters with problem divisions, and Nagisa has been frustrating him by succeeding. So Kazehisa is now maneuvering to have the division completely and spectacularly fail on Nagisa's watch; not a downsizing that leads to better short-term profitability, but losing even more money and making it be a total failure for Nagisa and thus stopping his career rise. The trick of "don't fire them, make their working conditions worse so that they'll leave voluntarily" is certainly realistic for Japanese corporations. |

I like the execution so far, and the characters are interesting.
Also, because the art style is very similar to that of Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai (well, the character designer is the same person, after all), I created a small backstory that this show (Classroom☆Crisis) takes places in the same universe as the one in OreImō. |

So far I am really liking this one. I hadn't watched it until yesterday, when I plowed through the first three episodes in one go. I find the mix of characters pretty well done and the complexity of Kiryu as a character particularly so. The backstory on him, with little to no information on him available to the public eye and having been shipped by his brother, the CEO, from one dead-end post to another, while producing startlingly good results each step of the way, makes for a nice start. The fact that his interactions with his brother made it clear that he not only was not expected to produce the results he did but practically did it in defiance of his brother makes him more compelling. The final piece of the puzzle is the unsaid but highly hinted at suspicion that his brother set up his kidnapping in a roundabout way and I got the distinct impression that his brother did not expect him to survive the experience. Add to that the fact that the A-TEC budget cut appears to be entirely under the table and I think I can see the direction things are heading...
I have a hunch that Kiriu is not a legitimate child or something like that. There also appears to be a great deal of antipathy between the CEO and the "other" founding father of the company, who was the brain behind the advanced engine technology that made their fortune. I am wondering if we won't find out somewhere along the way that the Sera family are related somehow to that former founder? There is also a nice little yuri side-plot with the kuu-dere pilot obviously being head over heals for the younger of the Sera siblings... I was a bit concerned that the cast size would be a bit cumbersome, but the writers took care of that with the defection of half of the class in episode 3... |

Promotion to executive to get out of the union would be reasonably possible in the US, because of strict laws against company unions (that make even European-style works councils illegal, see Electromation vs. NLRB [1994]).
The bit about the promoted Kaito having the ability to approve expense reports up to a certain amount now that he's in management was pretty reasonable, and a good angle to take. It would of course eventually reach his superior, as it did. So that was fairly realistic. |

To me episode 4 was fantastic; it is the best episode I have watched from this young anime season. I already liked what the show was trying to do, but in this episode everything clicked for me. I am excited for what comes next (beach episode included). And I hope the positive momentum continues.
And Nick, who knows, the upcoming beach episode might do something worthwhile for a change. |

This is a really entertaining show. I like the business topics that are included in the anime, although they are not fully explained. The jokes have landed and I like Angelina, especially when the A-Tec guys do sonething that drives her crazy. That jazzy song from episode 4 (and I think it's been played before) was amazing and I want to hear it more.
And yes, something interesting may happen in the beach episode, maybe well done character development, so Nick, you shouldn't be so negative about it. |

Honestly, I am finding it hard to justify myself continuing to watch this. While I understand it's not an action show, I'm not even seeing many sci-fi elements here and that's very disappointing. One of the things I tend to dislike is when an anime presents a backstory and then promptly loses it. We're supposed to be in a city on Mars, Japan's contribution to settling the planet. In the first episode, we got a great bit of action and thrills from a rescue attempt that actually took us into space. Great start, great promise. But since, all we've done is spend time with these characters as they talk about budgets, things they plan to do, and meetings. There's a lot of business talk and talk of dreams. I don't expect there to be a lot of action, but I at least would enjoy it more if they spent some time on what their projects actually are. Build something. Go into space. Do something. While I like the characters, mostly, I'm finding that the potential for what this series could do isn't being grasped at. No idea where, exactly, the series is going, but I can only hope that we're going to get more than corporate boardroom battles and budget negotiations.

Sure. May as well start with the simple observation: "What beach?" I loved episode 4; Turns out Angelina choose a new name because her real name is too close to Hattori Hanzo. Wait. Oh yeah, that guy. She is a real headhunter, isn't she and not just a corporate one? "Can I kill them?" Wow, I guess that wasn't a joke after all but it still makes me laugh, especially with her *tch* when told no. An accountant ninja and I actually giggled at the thought, mostly because of how well she sells it. She'll take the bottom line and cut your head off with it.... and gut your funding. I have a greater acceptance for Kaito now; He's the least accomplished of the class; Even with his position in the company, he might as well be a student. I'm still not a fan of his sister though. Wouldn't make more sense to say that it was her handling of her brother and the class that got them in this situation in the first place? "Ok, brother wants this so we'll do what he wants!" If she's the more capable leader than she should have a better understanding of her brother's weaknesses and how to work around them rather than just agreeing with him and working out the details. Even when she knows they're wrong. I'm still seeing some potential between Kaito and "Angelina". Sparks are flying between them, a fire's going to start eventually. I'm still in and seeing how we're almost to the halfway point, may as well stick around to see if anything catches fire. |
