Chaos Dragon finished last while gaining 8 positions

This is an accomplishment, alright Laughing

The final rankings make a lot of sense. The first 10 positions are filled by some of the most popular and beloved shows, and sequels and long running series. Spots 11-20 have decent titles with some inconsistencies. Some of the 21-27 ranked shows have had more criticism than praise.

I hope ANN continues to do these weekly rankings. It is fun for the fans, and I imagine they could be helpful for publishers and licensors.

This has been a cool addition to the Streaming reviews.
Now, if only US publishers would put out the streaming numbers for seasonal shows each week! Laughing

I'm a little confused about how these rankings work. For example, last week's One Piece ranked third while shows whose episodes had higher scores (Food Wars, School Live, Classroom Crisis) are ranked below it.

The rankings aren't just an aggregate of scores. They're using the Schulze method, so you can't really get a sense for how the rankings will shake out just from the article scores.

Overall, I agree with the ranking. Food Wars saw the sharpest drops while Classroom Crisis has soared greatly since the beginning of the season.

Again I have no idea what the random anime non-nan something is nor do I know what it's doing in first place. I am getting annoyed with all these typical slice of life shows about little girls takeing first place it makes me feel surrounded by creepy otaku's. Has it always been like this?

If you're talking of Non Non Biyori Repeat, it is a well written and funny story about kids living in the countryside.
Yep, it has little girls as main characters, but the show doesn't focus on that. Non Non Biyori is a series that could easily be aired in the morning for kids or at prime-time.

This is the first season that ANN is doing such a top, so this is the first time.

About you being surrounded by creepy otaku's. Well the late-night animation industry focus strongly at the Otaku(they are the DVD/BD buying majority), and I'm almost certain that you would consider majority, if not all, of them creepy. So yes you're surrounded by them.

Damn, its a shame Shimoneta's so low, that show was hilarious. Gate is also kinda low. Oh well. At least Gatchaman, My Love Story and School Live are up there, they were fantastic.

ok, I did mean to be offensive, and what i ment was that lately many unheard of shows are takeing first place away from the shows that we're building up for over the past decade, and that it bothered me how slice of life anime were ranked higher than epic detailed action packed ones. Not saying that I don't like shows that are slice of life but that it is unfair to compare 12 detailed episodes to the shows that have way more like one peice. I just want people to compare an overall series to another series not the 700th to the 7th episodes. Anyways I feel like there is a trend of short simple shows getting more credit than ones that are still continuing.

These are just episodic rankings, not series rankings. I don't really follow One Piece, Naruto or Gintama (which I'm assuming are the ones you're talking about), but it could simply be that the last 12~13 weren't as good as some others of the season. I don't think anyone's gonna point at this ranking and say that it's proof that NNBR is objectively better or more popular than those.

Yup, it simply means that when compared, the 12 episodes of Non Non Biyori that aired at the same time as the 12 episodes of Naruto etc. were generally considered better.

Sure, NNB's half-season format probably benefited it a bit, but if those Naruto episodes had all been great ones it definitely would have had the fanbase to dwarf NNB in the rankings. The fact is Naruto and the other long series like it are more likely to be inconsistent.

It really isn't hard to find praise for long-running shows. That's why they're long-running in the first place. Meanwhile, NNB as unique as it is will be soon forgotten by the general public. Here you're seeing people praise it while it's still relevant.

I really like "The Best and Worst of the Season So Far" postings and would like to see the feature updated for the current season (and future seasons). I found it useful as a tool to find shows that might be good to watch.

The Anime Preview Guide is always my first place to start. But man, it seems like there are so many new shows, it's hard to find the ones that might catch my imagination, even with all the reviewers hard work. The chart really helps me focus.

Thank you. Keep up the good work!
