I like that they are now including the unaired episode in the set , but I don't like the February push back. Already have way too much manga on order for that month.

Good! Still sucks I won't have the FrFr! shorts (and no word on acquiring the Starting Days film) but at least they will dub the water gun OVA and added more bonus goodies for the premium edition which I already pre-ordered. Now, can they please not delay this anymore? Crying or Very sad

So this is what was up with the delay. Can't really complain; they're bundling the OVA so I don't need to buy it separately. That's great.

I highly doubt that was the reason.

Wonder why Discotek didn't get this season though. Did it just not sell to expectations or did a certain other company flaunt their bigger wallet in front of the licensor?

Giving something back to the fans who'd been waiting for the release all this time was a smart move on Funi's part.

I wonder how they're going to make up for the Eva 3.33 delay.

There was an Answerman segment about it a LOOONG time ago, but I can't find it. Basically, Crunchyroll got the streaming rights to the first season and Funimation got the streaming rights to the second season. Since Funimation and Crunchyroll are competing online streaming sites and don't have a good history from what i've read, one side or the other(or both) couldn't agree to let Funimation release the first season on BD/DVD, so Crunchyroll went with Discotek instead.

I would imagine the fans would be happy when Discotek releases and if they can work with Funi to dub it.

On one hand, I'm glad they bundled in the OVA. But a 5 month delay? That's some serious BS. Funimation really needs to get their act together. they knew this release was highly anticipated, so they should have been better prepared.

It's entirely possible that the delay was something beyond their control. They were previously planning to release the OVA months later, which makes me think they probably had an obligation to wait on it.

Considering that people were likely to gripe about paying for a separate OVA with little content, and the costs of additional packaging for it, I can't blame them for waiting. People might grumble about the delay, but they will still buy it later.

True, they might have been stuck waiting on something, but it's still annoying to those of us who have already had it pre-ordered for months =P Complaining obviously isn't going to fix anything, but at least they're compensating us a bit with the OVA. I know I wouldn't bother paying separately for the OVA without some really good bonuses, so maybe they got a lot of feedback/complaints along those lines and decided the best thing to do was bundle them or something. Or maybe pre-orders weren't as high as they hoped? Any which way, still annoying.

I hope that Tokyo Ghoul CE and Eva 3.0 will get release dates soon as well. Still, these delays are getting out of hand.

Well, Funi has been having delays with some of their other special edition releases (like Tokyo Ghoul). I wonder if this one got delayed for the same reason, and they figured since they were going to have to do it over anyway, they might as well add the extra episode.
