Druids, the people who believed in nature spirits, had battled The Roman Empire, practiced many traditions and rituals, and one of those annual rituals would become what is known as halloween.

All Hallow's Eve is from Christianity. The actual holiday (or Holy Day, which is where that word comes from) you're thinking of is called Samhain. Feel free to look it up if you're interested in it.

Didn't Oshi do the Polish film Avalon? I actually thought that was a pretty good movie, basically matrix meets ghost in the shell but on a reasonable budget.

Thank you for your review, Brian. This has helped me understand the film better.

I did enjoy Garm Wars, but I think I'll have to come back and revisit it again so I can appreciate it a bit more after I see more of Mamoru Oshii's live-action stuff.
