Because a lot of us here aren't just fans of anime but animation in general so news of a video game based on a cartoon that many of us use to watch is of relevant interest.

Given how dark the comics actually were, perhaps it's appropriate. However, a lot of people's 1st exposure was with with the 80s cartoon, Compare this to fairy tails and the Disney versions.
