That is kind of...an odd prank. I've seen pictures of this guy, and he is kind of weird, but the internet can be much more odd. It is in poor taste to involve him in what is happening in Syria right now, and not worth any more time or speculation of why and for what reason.

I was thinking that this hoax was rather insensitive, but looks like the artist brought that up already.

Is he the sort of person who would go to Syria to do autograph sessions?

I think that this is a perfect example. This is especially the case when you put a political spin on with Syrian terrorists. Syria has enough problems as it is and this would just add fuel to the fire.

According to the May 31 entry, "Reports of Mark Twain’s quip about his death are greatly misquoted..." of the "this day in quotes" blog site, the actual words from a 1897 letter is:
Quote:
The report of my death was an exaggeration

Who'd believe he'd go to Syria for a signing, given the circumstances. Japan also has the passport ban to Syria.

Even when you're actually dead, you're not "officially" dead until a death certificate has been issued and your estate is in limbo until it is.
