So is this movie like an alternate retelling of the Air TV, or is it more of another interpretation of the game?

Air TV and the movie are both based on the game, but the TV series covers several different stories, just like Kanon(awsome series).
From the look of it though, the movie apears to deal more strictly with Yukito and Misuzu, seeing as how that was the way the trailer was geared. But, the only real way to know is to read the web site, or wait for the movie.

Yea, Key, the company that made the Air video game (dating sim) also produces the anime. Kanon and Clannad are also games made by Key, but as far as I know, Kanon is the only other game to be made into an anime.

Are there different companies involved in the animation? The character designs for the movie look a little different than what I've seen in the show. The movie people look a little less "Key-like."

I dunno. Maybe I'm just high or something.

Air TV is being animated by Kyoto Animation, while the movie is being done by Toei.

Air TV is being animated by Kyoto Animation, while the movie is being done by Toei.

The animation production company was not the major reason causing different looks; it was the character designer. Although characters in the game were orignally designed by Itaru Higami, the movie's character designer is Akemi Kobayashi (Pretear), while the TV series' character designer is Tomoe Aratani.

In the movie's trailer, Misuzu has smaller eyes and smaller head roughly equal in width and height, making her looks more mature than her image in TV series, where her eyes and head are larger and wider horizontally.

Whose two encyclopedia credits were animated by Kyoto.

I was hoping for something along the Kanon style, but it looks kind of interesting...
