I'm really curious about the price point for PSVR. $300-$400 would definitely seem more doable than the $600 price-point of the Rift.

Part of their excuse was the claim that it'd cost $1500 for a PC that could handle the Rift all told, so they put more into the Rift to lower the specs needed for the PC(*cough*bullshit*cough*). The PSVR, on the other hand, is targeting a known platform and hasn't wedded itself to high-end builds, so I'd expect a lower price point, especially since they can leverage their already existing relationships with hardware suppliers and profit off the PS4 itself(whereas Occulus is just starting to forge its relationships and is only getting money from the headset and its app store).

Do you just hate everything? I noticed you trash everything that gets mentioned. VR is actually pretty dang fun compared to 3d and motion sensing controls. The applications are also 100 times more viable. Not just porn and games, but sculpting, painting, relaxation environments. I have the GEAR VR which could be considered vr lite and it's actually very enjoyable, including the horror hames.

Some friends actually put a reserve on the Oculus already. Cool
It's double what we spent for the dev kit, but the retail version has a lot better specs.
Fortunately for those who bought an Oculus dev kit on Kickstarter, you’re getting the retail version free.

But the recommended requirements, damn:

  • graphics card: NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD R9 290 equivalent or greater
processor: Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
    memory: 8GB+ RAM

Actually, we already have better, but damn.
The kind of games ya could make for that kind of spec!
And since PC is an open platform, wonder what some tinkerers with too much time on their hands can come up with. Laughing

I wouldn't trust Sony to support anything other than a numbered home console. Remember Eyetoy, PS3 Camera, Move, Wonderbook, Vita, 3D, PS4 Camera, PSMobile, etc.? Yeah. Great track record. Rolling Eyes

I'll be sitting out of VR for a good number of years, that way I'll get the same experience (if not improved) at a much cheaper price down the road, the same as with any new technology.

Of course, the mods delete and ban everyone else but him, so he must be an important industry leader!

They tend to not support stuff that no one is interested in.

VR is a fad for the most part, for oculus' case it's more of the issue of cost and requirements, however it may catch on in business, the medical community, the military, and porn, but with PS VR it's more of an issue with games, VR is niche in gaming and will probably stay that way because most people just want to play games with a normal controller or arcade sticks.

I sure don't want to play games unless it's a dating sim on VR, I also wouldn't mind the next Idolm@ster having VR capability, but outside of that and porn, I'll pass.

I've also heard that the Oculus price point was affected by a choice to move from 1080p to 4K screen resolution. From what I understand the 1080p resolution in the dev kits had a screen-door effect, where you could see the individual pixels, whereas the 4K screen might not have the same problem.

I think the technology is exciting, but I haven't heard of any compelling gaming-specific experiences in VR just yet, so I'm still on the fence about it.

Am I the only one who first saw the headline cut off at "Playstation V", and think, "Oh dear gods... Confused "?

May I respectfully suggest that that you report all of his offending posts and for good measure PM the moderators? Just a thought.
