There's only one theater in my state that ever shows anime movies, and its not even on this list. Alas... Maybe they will add it before too long? I was really hoping to see it.

Just bought my ticket to the March 1 showing in KC.

Apparently, it appears there is another showing in Kansas City at 12:00pm on Saturday, February 27, 2016, which wasn't listed here.

It says that the San Diego tickets are "on sale," but the website it brings me to has no info on the movie.

That's the case for me as well. It just takes me to the generally Fandango page for the theater. I guess I've gotta wait a little bit until they get that up and running.

I was hoping this would be at the Hollywood theater in Portland. Oh well, nothing wrong with a road trip to Seattle!

Better buy the tickets online as soon as it's available for the seattle one. It normally sold out within few days for popular anime.

Do you suppose they'll add more theaters ? A theater near me (where Anthem of the Heart was shown) where anime movies usually play isn't listed... Neutral

I haven't seen anything in this series but like seeing anime on the big screen, anyone know how new viewer friendly this movie is?

In the release order of the original books, Kizu was the 2nd story after Bakemonogatari, although it's the first story chronologically. If you have the time, I would recommend watching all of Bake first. The payoff in seeing how everything came to be is so good, and you would miss a few "lightbulb" moments and clever foreshadowing otherwise.

Having said that, since Kizu is the first chronologically, it's certainly not a bad starting point (and you could always pick up on that other stuff in a rewatch). The main story itself doesn't require any prior knowledge to enjoy, and the author's notes in the back of the recently-released-in-English novel even say "It's OK if you start with this one."

So basically, watch Bake if you can, because it certainly "enriches" the experience, but if you can't it's really not a big deal. You can still enjoy the movie just fine on it's own.
