Was a very long wait since June of last year until the release of the final LE as I don't watch an anime until I buy it but it was very much worth the wait. Probably my favorite arc of the whole show, was absolutely beautiful and had me in tears. Loved seeing Asuna as the lead and Yuuki was adorable. Dub was fantastic as usual and the LE is one of the most gorgeous LE's I own. Fantastic anime and one of my all time favorites so I'm really happy SAO II is finally completely released Anime smile

Yes, this is also my favorite arc of the entire franchise, mostly because it finally changed its point of view from boring Kirito to Asuna. It's nice to see her as a character and not just as a "lady in distress" or the main cheerleader of his boyfriend. SAO II presented two of the most compelling characters in the whole franchise, but between Sinon and Yuuki, I guess I prefer the later because she was never mistreated as another harem member but as a real friend, at least for Asuna. Her whole situation hit me hard because it reminded me of a highschool friend who spoiler[died really young due to one of these [expletive] diseases]. And then the whole spoiler[last good-bye scene] left me crying without even noticing.

I didn't find the whole daughter/mother relationship very compelling, though. I think it didn't had enough time to really resonate with me and felt that the outcome was very rushed and pretty dumb. If only their relationship was presented in previous arcs, the whole thing would have been more solid, something impossible because this show likes to put the perspective in only one character per arc.

I might be to harsh, but I felt that it pressed a little too hard at the end with the melodramatic moments. It work all the way up until a certain character's emotional scene towards the end. Overall though, the show does feel better without Kirito blocking Asuna's light, but at the same time it's hard to ignore the way that Asuna has been handled throughout the previous arcs. She's a good character, but she still seems to not be as endearing as she was at the very beginning.

The hell it is! It doesn't even focus on Kirito! And it's a minor arc, also! A filler arc!

Lolol idk if this is real or sarcastic, but I still laughed. The arc ended up being sort of interesting because Kirito was barely in it. Of course he had to save the day a few times (because duh it's Kirito and Asuna can't do anything without him). Then just when the show got enjoyable they spoiler[ killed of the best and most interesting character in the whole show. ] Sigh.

I came in a few episodes into SAO II, so I have no real idea about the characters prior to that. That being said, I did watch the entire Mother's Rosario arc and I just loved it. It was greatly emotional, fun to watch, and I actually liked getting to know Asuna's character more.

I may eventually go back to watch the rest of SAO, as the biggest issue I had with getting into the series where I did was that I had no idea who anyone was (outside of Asuna, Kirito, Yuuki, and Shion).

It's not a filler arc. It's adapted from light novel volume #7. While I don't know if there are any long-term ramifications from this arc, as i've only been reading the light novels as they have been released in English, this is by no means a "filler arc". It's part of the light novel canon on which the anime is based.

Whatever, it doesn't matter. I always hated SAO anyway. I'm done with this series.

This was my favorite arc of the entire franchise. I loved Yuuki and cried at the end of the final episode when spoiler[she died.]

Good review.

I always went into SAO not expecting much. Just enjoying a fun, but very flawed, series at face value despite all the hate it gets. Simple entertainment, basically.

Not only did I think the second series was much better overall, but Mother's Rosario really surprised me in that it left such an emotional impact.

I mean genuine surprise, too. It was the first time I actually cared about the characters (and plot) in SAO, and it showed that the story telling here can be interesting and mature. I hope to see more of that from SAO.

SAO's author, Kawahara Reki says he wrote Mother’s Rosario as an apology, to readers who disliked how he made Asuna the caged helpless damsel in the Fairy Dance arc. Rosario was written to recapture the toughness she had in the SAO arc.

On Fairy Dance, Kawahara said he made Asuna helpless to “increase the sense of urgency…and danger for Kirito’s adventure in the 2nd arc.” He needed to make her unable to help Kirito there since “there was hardly any problem that the two could not overcome (together).”

Kawahara has since had “some regrets” about caging Asuna.

I did as well; while I don't have a real connection to the characters as most other fans might, there was something about this particular arc and the final episode especially that really hit me.

Mother Rosario is a good arc. But I can't say it's my favorite.

Quote:
She is immensely strong but without the “broken” feel that Kirito can give off and (also unlike Kirito/Kazuto) has personality to spare.

..................the f*ck?

Why do people INSIST Kirito doesn't have a personality? They are either so biased towards him that they convince themselves this is true or they plain don't pay attention when he's on screen.

You know something, guys? You people overreacting to Yuuki's death and making it out as the saddest thing you've ever seen in your entire life is almost as ridiculous as people's reactions to Toy Story 3's ending, Metal Gear Solid 3's ending, or Furious 7's ending. You guys are MAKING it look like it's like one of those ending scenes all over again.
