WHHHoooaaa! When was this a thing! I am excite!
I do wish they had picked someone a little older and more rugged for Balsa, but overall, I am quite feeling this.

I always wanted to see more stories about Balsa.
If the article is accurate Production IG did only adapt 1 novel out of 10. Damn them, why didn't they continue?

This is too cool. I hope that this will push for another animated series revolving around another chapter.
So are we gonna get L'arc en ciel to do a song?
I'm so for this.

I agree. This actress looks way too young to personify Balsa, who is approaching thirty when Moribito opens. Ayase looks at best to be in her early twenties.
I've noticed that the NHK doesn't seem to be producing epic anime dramas like Moribito, Kemono no Sou-ja Erin, Juuni Kokuki or Hyouge Mono any more. The last NHK show that I watched was Log Horizon, which was entertaining enough, but nothing like those earlier productions with strong roots in Japanese and other Asian cultures.

Wished they used this budget for a second season of the anime.

Will probably check this one out if someone subtitles it. This is one of the few fantasy titles that I think could feasibly be done in live-action, and I am curious to see stories beyond the first novel. (And yes, the entire first anime series is a padded-out version of the first novel.)

If the writing is at least as strong as in the anime's, I will be interested in this live action version.

Because making anime costs money, and the existing anime series was not a mega hit to justify the expense of more.

Reiko Takashima looks like she will make for a great Torogai. I wonder if this is a show Crunchyroll would pick up?

But, she is 30 (and 10 months).

Right? And regardless of what age she is, she still looks young, and I feel like part of Balsa's character is that she is older and looks older.

I remembered watching Moribito when I was younger (and I should rewatch it, as well), but I feel like Haruka shouldn't be playing her character.
I think she's transitioning from playing cheerful, clumsy characters (ex. Hotaru from Hotaru no Hikari) to more serious types (ex. Yae no Sakura), but judging by how she is in the Japanese adaptation drama of Never Let You Go, she's trying too hard.
I'm being biased but, I do prefer actresses who actually done action-related stageplays/dramas and give off that 'cool, badass aura' like former AKB48 member, turned actress, Akimoto Sayaka or Kuroki Meisa to play Balsa instead.

I, too, would totally watch this if Crunchyroll picked it up.

I just wish we could get the rest of the books. So far only the first two are available here.

I like Ayase and Moribito so this is perfect. I just hope the visual will be somewhat good. I don't like the mud face.

Loved the anime kinda sad I only discovered it recently due to netflix. It felt like Rurouni Kenshin where the anime ended off on a good place but still left us wanting more. Hopefully Crunchyroll picks this up and subs it.
