All of the Logicalists we meet are beautiful teen girls (except the enigmatic rival Olga Breakchild, but that's another story), and despite their hard work and hours of experience, Tsurugi is somehow ten times as talented as anyone else without even trying.

The 2nd episode indicates pretty clearly that Tsurugi has more total hours of experience by a huge margin. He was only able to pull this off thanks to his mandatory MC special trait (in this case, that he can recover from a Trance stupidly fast), of course, but it wouldn't be fair to call his skills effortless since he's clearly put in the hours to go along with his archetypal talent.

I would love to see the MC getting more of a personality, as at the moment he is pleasant but bland.

Episode #1-2:

The moment the show waived that "the MC is ultra-strong, and everybody knows it" flag, my impression of the show fell to the level of "the average Weekly Shōnen Jump superpowered battle manga." Not that I was expecting any revolutionary story elements, but it feels like a cop-out on the narrative aspect...

On the plus side, the visuals look good, although the Foreigners reminded me of the character design of Doctor Neo Cortex, from the Crush Bandicoot franchise; that was pretty amusing.

If the show is as by-the-numbers as it seems to be, I suspect that the "real" show will start with episode #3.

It feels like Original Series have been more miss, than hit, lately. Maybe I'm just only remembering the really bad ones, though.

I would just like to point out that the MC isn't "magically" better at everything that everyone else (and assessments in earlier reviews that he got special treatment over people who should have seniority over him, yeah, same thing). He's actually far more experienced than the rest of the team (I mean, he's clocked somewhere around 10 times as much active time in the field as the previous leader of the show's central team), and they all know that, meaning he actually DOES have seniority.

That said, he also isn't better at everything than everyone else.... Quite the opposite has been shown, actually. The two offensive-types on his team, for example, have been clearly shown to be much better at... offensive things than he is. Naturally. The only thing it's really shown him as being better at is just, well, acting like someone who has more experience. Which he does. So... yeah.

Of course, this always happens with the mediocre shows I just pick up randomly out of sheer boredom.... The reviewers tend to be at least as jaded with them as I am, so they often miss some pretty obvious cues.

P.S. On a completely unrelated note (well, it technically still ties in with the previous paragraph [technically, but this doesn't really fall under "cues" so much as "they literally spent a big chunk of episode 2 throwing this fact in our faces"]), they actually hadn't killed a single Foreigner in the first two episodes. They simply forced them to separate with their human hosts... somehow (it's not really explained...), then proceeded to capture and imprison them.

Tamaki's unease made sense to me. She's primarily a healer, and hasn't been used for much else. It was even present the in the battles the last two episodes- she heals and occasionally comes up with strategies while Chloe and Mana have always delivered the actual finishing blows. The way her story was told, she'd much rather have nothing to do with the battlefield. She'll still get the hours because, 1)these things seem to be a team effort and 2)she's more involved in the aftermath of the incident then they are).

She probably earned the position of leader because she's good at her field/intelligent/focused. (How long has she been leader, anyway? We know that she's been a Logicalist since she was 13, but,how long has she been a leader specifically?

The conceit that she was on the job for four years and has never once assumed a combative role is a admittedly bit of a stretch, but it's not so jarring that I found myself shaking my head. I guess I can suspend disbelief pretty easily.

As flawed as this show is, I can't help liking it. It's got a lot of sincerity. I even like Tsurugi- he's plain, but likeable enough without being overbearing.

And after seeing some of the samples of the TCG... *shudders*, let's say I'm glad the anime decided to tone down certain aspects.

I was intrigued by this show for the first couple episodes, but the all-powerful and all-beloved MC just got more and more annoying. Ugh. Dropped this show for that Razz will be fun to keep reading the reviews, though!

By the show's, heh, logic, the main character adsorbed a god so I'm not sure what else to expect from him other than being beyond human? I'm watching it as a comedy and am getting a few solid laughs out of each episode because it is so cliche. "Ah ha, he's the villain." "No, he's a loser. He's just kind of a psychic jerk and we don't really like him." "Oh."

Here's the first clue: Athena, Greek, Artemis, Greek, Venus, Roman- correct answer is Aphrodite- and Valkyrie, uh, Norse of course but more akin to angel than god. So they're picking and choosing all over the place.

Is it good? I find it entertaining but I can't answer that. It's not ugly and I don't hate it but that's not good enough. It's not quite as crazy as I was hoping but Loki and, Oz really? Is he also great and terrible? And there's Arthur and his table of roundness and his best bud Lance and...

Wait, wrong show and literally the wrong mythology. Wow, this is confusing.

By all powerful you mean "done nothing but block and speak in battle so far"?

He doesn't even have an actual attack without Rasetsu.

We learn that Chloe isn't a team player and has always wanted to handle everything herself—a pretty poor personality for somebody whose work depends on Trancing with another person and collaborating with other Logicalists on a team. It's unbelievable that her issues never came up before now. As the Logicalists battle an increasingly confusing series of Foreigners that seem to be stretching the very world-building rules we were just taught in episode 2, Chloe and Tamaki's resentment comes to a head in an argument the rest of the team listens to via loudspeaker.

Sums up why I'm dropping this show... Four episodes in and it's just a confused mess. In a slower season it might have made the cut, but I'm watching so much this season that marginal messes don't make the team.

So this is this season's show that started out okay but everyone dropped and forgot about by episode 3? Not terrible enough to hate-watch but too much a snoozefest to follow.

My logic tells me that many commenters here have misunderstood this show and are too critical. If you want a real stinker, I'd recommend BBK/BRNK which I have been hate-watching to the point that I don't think I can continue. Just lame and sad WTF. But based on the comments here, I binge-watched L&L to get in some laughs (not many comedies this season), and while it didn't disappoint, I'll keep watching because I am the village idiot that thinks this is not too bad. Of course it is a completely over-the-top simplistic pre/teen guy fantasy but I was a teen guy with a healthy fantasy-life once and I like going back from time to time. Who could hate a show where people get super-powers by making out with beautiful girls (goddesses) and dorm with them like married couples? Athena even confesses! Now red-hot Lucifer shows up and with Mr. Breakchild (the name, really...) looking for the ultimate Covenanter, well, we might even get some Yaoi with the (yuru) Yuri. Anyway my logic tells me that the probability I will like this show to the end is 100%.

I liked episode 4; There were a few visual "oohs" from me, especially the way they designed the CG circus tent rising and how Chloe ricocheted her bike off the side of a bus. And her sword strike was pretty epic; Good thing everyone knew to duck, somehow...

Oh, right, the name starting with the syllable "Ru". Guys, guys, you may want to change the R to an L. If you did that then it would probably make sense.

Quote:
Meanwhile, Tsurugi and Athena have problems of their own. Distracted by seeing the powerful foreigner Lucifer (and only reluctantly telling the others about it for some undisclosed reason), Athena can't Trance as strongly as usual.

Yes, does the name "Lucifer" has zero name recognition here? Yes, I would believe that a trio of gods- and one Norse angel- on the side of humans wouldn't want to name drop the guy who took the name of-or is- the "Ultimate traitor of good" because there would have to be some ex'plaining to do. "Well, you see, he was on our side... at first..."

And the girls needed time to reTrance so their driver rode around for a bit. That was explained, it even came with its own timer so there's no need to complain.

Tsurugi getting hit by the truck did make me laugh as well as the HQ's "enhance!" scene only to find that Chloe was already there. And I liked the fact that it was the driver who left the radio on so the whole team could hear the squabble because some things just need to be shared.

My grade: B-, needs more luck, I mean work.

A coin locker is a weird place to leave a baby. Maybe you don't want to be seen dropping your kid off at an orphanage but putting a baby in a locker would look worse. Not sure how long a baby could survive in there unless the air circulates well enough that the baby doesn't suffocate. They would probably be found quickly though, as most anyone would notice a baby crying coming from a locker and report it to the authorities. All that being said, it's not the worst place to leave a baby. It would provide some shelter and like I previously mentioned she was likely found quickly. Just bite the bullet and leave them at the orphanage or police station, even if you have to run away before anyone notices. I don't judge her parents for essentially putting up for adoption. We're not privy to their reasons but I don't think it was made lightly. It's unfortunate but that doesn't make them bad people, though it probably makes them bad parents. I feel like they wouldn't be good parents even if they did keep her and that probably informed their decision. Of course Mana is not wrong for feeling abandoned. They may have had good intentions (we don't know) but feeling abandoned is just a natural response to that.

Also I would contest the use of the word Lolita with regard to Mana. Yes she is petite but she seems reasonably like a girl her age and not particularly childish. I reserve the term loli for either actual or seemingly prepubescent children. I'm not saying it's unreasonable to refer to her as such. Just saying I like to be precise when I use such terms. Also, to be honest, I don't dislike petite women (not my preference but certainly don't find them unappealing) and would rather not be called a lolicon for it.

Also don't take advice on women from sex dad unless you plan on seducing them. Even then, unless you want to be a womanizer, I wouldn't take his advice.
