It wasn't that explicit in my opinion and worse things have made it through the censors.

Stop letting your children watch late night anime. You know it's not good for them so why are you imbeciles letting them watch it anyway. Also with a primetime show that's really graphic but has a message like IBO, just watch that with your kid.

I am aware that BPO complains A LOT and a little portion of them does make sense, but this one is not one of them. This screams over sensitive and utterly absurd reaction, which made the whole situation more dramatic and serious than it should be.

Whatever happened to the idea that Japan didn't censor or didn't have strict guides on anime? They broadcast hyper violent shows like Gantz (which i know was edited, but even edited was still pretty gory) and plenty of fan-service shows with nudity... When did this change?

Alright, I admit that the masturbation scene might have stretched the limits a bit too far, but I don't think it's that disturbing. It seems that the viewers may very well expected it to be censored to avoid further grievances from the BPO.

That hasn't been the case since the 20th century, and even then there were guidelines. Masturbation is a taboo subject over there, moreso than even in America. It was a very edgy joke for them to do.

They do sound like professional busybodies who complain about everything and nothing for the sake of complaining, and really there was nothing to complain about. It wasn't like they animated Fappymatsu whipping out his little-matsu or anything. (Though I suspect there'll be doujinshis of that, in bishie form).

They're just the Mary Whitehouses of Japan.

I really loved the Fappymatsu gag, so this kind of annoys me. The show has much worse going for it than a brother finding his other brother on a date with his right hand and it's going to get worse. Like the number of censored wangs, or Jyushimatsu's jewels growing to such impossible size that he has to drag them back home crying.

I don't think so given how much sexual and violent humor is present in the show. Even some Western fans found a few of the skits to tread the moral event horizon. Maybe the original comic was intended for a young audience, but I even doubt that based on some very old comic strips I've seen scanned on tumblr.

I hope Osomatsu isn't hit with anymore censorship and/or copyright problems. Or at the last if they bring it to America they can restore the episodes to how they originally were, including the first one. Though I doubt that since The Japnese company may want them to keep it censored to avoid more issues :/.

Except most of the shows I was thinking of and the example used (Gantz) came out in 2004... It just seems that recently (past 2-3 years) there has been a drastic change regarding violence/nudity in anime. Course I could be missing some of the facts as well. (I know recent shows often save nudity for home releases and certain types of violence as well)

"But think of the children!" Yes, I'm thinking the children should be in bed. I'm also thinking their parents should know that if they are still watching TV late at night when content restrictions are relaxed, they might end up seeing things that aren't so kid-friendly.

So I'm guessing South Park and Family Guy haven't made it to Japan.

If your kid is Eric Cartman, maybe.
