I could have sworn that they announced this license a while back. Maybe I'm just imagining things.

They might as well announce that they have the license to One Piece Movie 6 while they're at it Wink

Yes! I really hope they make a bundle to sell all four Hosoda films when TBATB gets released! I only own a cheap $5 DVD release of Summer Wars, but I'd sell it for a buck if FUNi releases a bundle with all four in BD format!

10th anniversary of the film's theatrical release in Japan.

This makes me feel old Sad

This is cool. I could only find the 5 dollar UK import version...I'm hoping for bluray because DVD should've been dead about 10 years ago...

Fantastic news! Never seen this movie but always wanted to but the bluray edition has always been rare/expensive.

The words "Special home video edition" I'm sure mean a fancy LE release and I love Funi's LE's so I'll buy it day 1 Anime smile

That would be awesome! I'm not a huge Hosoda fan, but I'm a sucker for nice releases, and I would totally buy up a CE release with all 4 films. Though Hosoda has many more films to go, so they might wait a bit before they release a Hosoda Box set.

As mentioned in the other thread, the only way I'll triple-dip on this film is if they include the extras from the Bandai LE DVD on their BD since Bandai's Blu-ray release has those extras but on a bonus DVD.

Maybe they can include more [hopefully good] stuff too if they do one of their own LEs? That would be nice.

Not much of a One Piece fan anymore but I would definitely buy this if it ever got picked up. Heard great things about this film even before knowing Hosoda directed it and after reading Mike Toole's article about it being made after Hosoda's falling out with Ghibli, I'm very curious now.

But this is a formal Bandai title though, and I don't think Funi has even released a single one of the titles they license rescued from them. (none of the ones I care about, anyway) Last time I heard anything about it(over a year ago), they were STILL waiting on getting material from the Japan side of things.

Just hope this turns out differently and they can actually get a physical release of this movie out in a reasonable amount of time.

According to the press release, they got this from Kadokawa so if it does get released this year like they claim then we might hear some news on Haruhi & Lucky Star this year as well.

As for the Sunrise stuff, that's all on Sunrise and it affects Sentai's rescues of their stuff too so nobody knows what's going on with them.
