Big GIANT Halloween Contest

October 22, 2005

CONTEST IS OVER — WINNERS HAVE BEEN POSTED HERE

GRAND PRIZE WINNER: Dag Sørvoll (Oslo, Norway)

There's two parts of Halloween that will never get old: dressing up... and getting the biggest stash of candy on the block. We can't help you dress up, but we sure can help you snag the best load of trick-or-treat prizes in town!

With huge thanks to our friends at ADV Films, Bandai Entertainment, Central Park Media, FUNimation Productions, Geneon Entertainment, and Right Stuf International, and as a hearty Thank You to all our loyal readers, Anime News Network is thrilled to present Candy Haul.

Candy Haul?! What's that?!

It's just what it sounds like—a huge, giant haul of some of the best Halloween candy the anime world has to offer. Three lucky winners will make off with a monster amount of Halloween loot, packed with freaky frights, spooky surprises, devilish dramas, and some plain old awesome stuff.

Told you it'd be big.

There are TWO different ways to win:

THE FUN WAY

Show us your slasher skills in the first ever Anime News Network Halloween pumpkin carving contest!

Ever think it'd be fun to make a giant Pikachu with glowing red eyes? Ever feel the need to carve a congo line of hairy transvestites? Now you can do all that, and show it off, too. There are absolutely no rules and regulations, but there's only one requirement—please email us two photos of your pumpkin masterpiece. The first should the "nice" picture, with whatever background and surroundings you want, the second should have a paper sign next the pumpkin saying "Anime News Network" (so we know you didn't just rip it off the internet). Also, no photo editing. We want these to be all natural, so just say no to lens flare.

You can carve aaaaaaanything you want as long as it's not pornographic, filled with bad words, or a caricature of Stalin (we'll accept Lenin and Gorbachev). However, you'll impress us even more if it's anime-themed or really damned scary.

Please e-mail all photos (jpg, tif, gif, bmp, png) to Halloween [at] animenewsnetwork.com as well as a short description of what it is, in case we can't figure it out. You can enter as many times as you want.

One of the grand prize winners and also the runner up will be selected from the carving contest entries.

THE EASY WAY

Don't feel like playing with knives? Allergic to vegetables? Just enter your name, e-mail address, and mailing address here and we will select one grand prize winner at random.

Multiple members of a household are allowed to enter, but please limit the number of entries to one per individual. If we catch you cheating, you'll be disqualified. People who entered the pumpkin carving contest are allowed to enter their name for the drawing as well.

The Dry Details

The contest will run until November 1 at 11:59PM US Eastern Time. No Exceptions Winners will be contacted by email shortly after that and asked to confirm their mailing address (if you botch your address on the form the first time, don't sweat it).

All pumpkin carving pictures will be posted on Anime News Network along with the winner's name, so if you have a pseudonym you would prefer to go by, please make a note of that in your email.

If there are any questions, please email us at Halloween [at] animenewsnetwork.com

The Fine Print: Anime News Network reserves the right to cancel this contest at any time (unlikely to happen). Contest is open to any and all residents of the planet Earth, but be aware that if your federal mail delivery organization loses your package or it gets stolen, we will not be held responsible for it. Contestant names, e-mail and mailing addresses will not be given out to any one and will be erased when the winners have been confirmed. Non-winners will not be contacted, spammed or harassed in any way. We reserve the right to retroactively add new rules when and how we see fit.
