Naruto Director's Chair Contest

This contest is over; you can see the winners here. Warning: large images.

Naruto fans, your moment in the spotlight has arrived! In celebration of the release of Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2 for the Nintendo Gamecube on September 26th and Naruto: Ninja Council for the Gameboy Advance on October 10th, Anime News Network, D3 Publisher and TOMY have once again joined forces to give you a fighting chance to snag these titles for free (along with a bunch of other cool swag)! Welcome to the Naruto: Director's Chair Contest!

The rules are simple: create a movie poster for a Naruto movie you'd like to see. You can use any existing Naruto characters, your own original characters, American celebrities, international celebrities, virtually anything from pop culture. Your movie can be about virtually anything, so long as Naruto (or at least a character from the show) is in it. There is no writing portion of this contest; meaning, your movie poster needs to get across the basic concept of your Naruto movie as well as possible. Remember to use taglines; if it works for Hollywood, it'll work for you! Credits are not required but they will lend a real aire of authenticity to your work, so try your best to make it look as real as you can!

Remember: programs like Photoshop can only be used for poster text, coloring, and touch-up; photoshopping together already-existing artwork or photographs or elements from other movie posters is forbidden. Basically, you need to draw everything except the text on the poster yourself.

How are we going to be judging these posters? Here's a breakdown of what's most important:

1. Originality
2. Execution
3. Design
4. Art quality

Your poster can be funny or serious or a little bit of both; we're looking for the most creative, well-executed poster. Art quality is not the most important thing but it is important, so keep that in mind; remember, your poster HAS to be convincing! The more it looks like a real movie poster, the better your chances are of winning! Make sure you check out samples of real movie posters (including the ones for the actual Naruto movies themselves) for reference and inspiration. The deadline for this contest is Monday, October 9th, at midnight Pacific Standard Time.

Now the most important part: what do you win?
