SakuraCon
Sunday, April 6th

by Kyle Pope,

Today is the final day of SakuraCon 2003 and things are winding down.

The one panel I attended today was very interesting indeed. From January 16th to the 18th, 2004 the citizens of Japan will get to experience an American style anime convention as Anime Expo goes to Tokyo. The con will be held in Ikebukuro and I would be willing to saw off a limb to be there. Expectation is for 10,000+ attendees with approximately 1000+ coming from overseas. Unlike its domestic counterpart AX Tokyo will be less an industry convention and more of a fan convention. Travel packages are available for approximately $1100.00 covering airfare, hotel and con registration fees.

Being centered in the heart of anime country there is anticipated to be a wealth of guests from the anime industry. Seiyuu will be there in force. Accommodations will be made for non-Japanese speaking attendees. If you do speak Japanese and are going expect to be very popular.

And so ends another addition of SakuraCon. I already have my registration for SakuraCon 2004 and am looking forward to it. Acting as a representative for ANN has made attendance of this con much more enjoyable for me. But either as a rep for ANN or as a civilian, I will be back next year.
