Anime Expo 2010
Production I.G Industry Panel

by Gia Manry,

Maki Terashima-Furuta presided over the Production I.G industry panel. Terashima-Furuta presented and showed trailers for four upcoming anime in Japan: the upcoming Loups-Garous film, the 6-part theatrical series Broken Blade, and the film Bungaku Shoujo. Terashima-Furuta also brought up the upcoming TV series Sengoku Basara 2 but did not show a trailer.

After the trailers, Terashima-Furuta announced that I.G also may participate in Avi Arad's upcoming live-action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell, and confirmed that it is working with Arad to create a new comic book titled The Innocent (not to be confused with Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence). I.G is also currently developing two co-productions, one a kids series and the other a co-production with Singapore.

On the licensing front, I.G licensed the Revolutionary Girl Utena movie to Right Stuf, who also just announced the TV series.

After the announcements the panel went into Q&A, during which time Terashima-Furuta expressed interest in getting interns, particularly for video editing.

Terashima-Furuta also commented on Ghost in the Shell and FLCL as shows that performed better and are more popular in the U.S. than in Japan, and suggested that Production I.G is a company that really tries to appeal to international audiences, not just Japan.
