Photo Gallery: Wondercon 2012

by Zac Bertschy & Bamboo Dong,

In contrast to the summertime's bustling San Diego Comic-Con, Wondercon - held this year in Anaheim, California, in its first year away from usual hometown San Francisco - was relatively low-key, with a focus on comics and their creators rather than the over-the-top glamour of Hollywood. Comics fans had plenty of programming to feast on over the rainy weekend.

Anime and manga fans, however, weren't quite so lucky - aside from a rather healthy amount of merchandise available in the exhibit hall and a few screening rooms running anime all weekend, there wasn't much for your average otaku to dig in to. Bandai Namco Games had a strong push for their new Shifty Look webcomics initiative, and the latest Naruto Ninja Storm game was on display with one event for Shonen Jump fans on Friday, but otherwise, that was about it. Fans will just have to wait for this summer's smorgasbord of anime conventions (and the considerably heightened presence of anime and manga at San Diego) for their fix, but in the meantime, we did manage to grab some photos for your perusal.
