Attack on Titan Manga Reaches 40 Million Copies

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan manga series will have more than 40 million copies in print when its 14th volume is released on August 8.

The TV Asahi program reported the series had more than 38.3 million copies in print in 12 countries and territories in April. The manga's first volume was #1 on Nielsen BookScan's Top 20 Graphic Novel chart for June, and eight volumes of the series ranked overall. The series is currently nominated for a Harvey Award.

The Levi-centered spinoff manga, Attack on Titan: No Regrets has over 500,000 copies in print.

The earlier Attack on Titan television anime is being recompiled into two theatrical films. The first film will open on November 22. The second film, Shingeki no Kyojin Kōhen ~Jiyū no Tsubasa~ (Attack on Titan Part II: Wings of Freedom), will open next year. (The films are named after Linked Horizon's popular opening themes for the television anime.) A live-action film starring Haruma Miura is slated for next year.

The television anime series is airing on Adult Swim's Toonami block in North America.
