James Cameron Delays Avatar Sequels Until Late 2017

Director James Cameron says during his New Zealand trip on Wednesday that the first sequel to his Avatar film will be delayed until late 2017, since he and his team are writing the scripts for all three sequel movies simultaneously. The movie had been slated to open in late 2016.

Cameron previously stated that he plans to start developing the live-action adaptation of Yukito Kishiro's Battle Angel Alita (GUNNM) manga in 2017. He has also stated previously that the film would not start until his work on the Avatar sequel films were finished.
