Kojima Productions' 1st Game Briefly Listed as Heading to PC After PS4

posted on by Egan Loo

Lucas Liaskos, the European Community Manager for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, posted a Q&A regarding the agreement between Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) and Hideo Kojima's new studio Kojima Productions on Wednesday. The Q&A has since been removed.

The Q&A reported that while Kojima Productions' first software title will be a console exclusive to the PlayStation 4, it is also planned for PC afterwards.

According to the Q&A, Kojima Production is an independent studio established in Japan on Wednesday, and that SCE has not made Kojima Productions part of its in-house Worldwide Studios or made a direct investment in the studio. However, "SCE will provide support as necessary." The Q&A also declined to comment on how long the first game's exclusivity lasts, or whether Kojima Productions' future games will also be console exclusive to PlayStation systems.

The Q&A noted that the first game is completely new and specifically ruled out any connection with Konami Digital Entertainment's Metal Gear and Silent Hill franchises. It also emphasized that "Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. will remain one of SCE's most important publishers, and our relationship with them will not change." Regarding Kojima's absence at this month's PlayStation Awards, the document only stated, "Who will attend the PS Award ceremony is decided by the publisher and SCE cannot comment on anything further."
