Nippon Animation's 3rd Sinbad Film Delayed to May

The official website for Nippon Animation's Sinbad three-part anime film project began streaming a teaser video on Friday to reveal that the third and final film in the franchise will open in Japan in May. The film was originally slated to open in March.

Narrator: The secret of the magic tribe is completely revealed
Text: And they set off on a journey
Narrator and Text: Sinbad. Opens in theaters across the country in May

The first film, Sinbad: Sora Tobu Hime to Himitsu no Shima, opened in Japan on July 4. The second film, Sinbad: Mahō no Lamp to Ugoku Shima, opened in Japan on January 16 after originally being scheduled to open in December.

Nippon Animation is collaborating with Shirogumi to plan and produce the film project as Nippon Animation's 40th anniversary work. Shinpei Miyashita (Doraemon: Nobita no Kyōryū assistant director) is directing the films. The character designer and animation director is Yoshiharu Satō (My Neighbor Totoro, Only Yesterday), and Hiroyuki Kawasaki (Ronja the Robber's Daughter) is in charge of the scripts. Kaeko Hayafune is writing the actual scripts. Aeon Entertainment is distributing the films.
