Power Rangers Spinoff Comic to Focus on Pink Ranger

posted on by Karen Ressler

Boom! Studios and Saban Brands announced on Tuesday that they will launch a mini comic series focusing on Kimberly Hart, the Pink Ranger from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The series, titled Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink, will begin in May and is slated for six issues.

Brenden Fletcher and Kelly Thompson are writing the series and Daniele Di Nicuolo is providing the art. Elsa Charretierdrew the cover art for the first issue (pictured right) and Marguerite Sauvage drew an incentive cover (pictured below left).

Boom! Studios and Saban Brands are also collaborating on a Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic. Issue No. 0 launched in January and is in its third printing. Issue No. 1 is slated for March 2 and has more than 100,000 pre-orders.

As the titles indicate Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Pink are based on the first 1993-1995 incarnation of the Power Rangers franchise, which itself was loosely based on the Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger entry in Toei's Super Sentai franchise.

Marvel published Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics in the 1990s, and Papercutz began a children's graphic novel series in 2014.

The upcoming Power Rangers live-action film is slated for March 24, 2017.
