Toonami Asia: No New Details Yet for Dragon Ball Super in English

posted on by Jordain Haley-Banez

The official Twitter account for Toonami Asia revealed on Wednesday that it has no new information yet regarding Dragon Ball Super's English version. Toonami Asia had responded in mid-July to fan inquiries about the status of the show, stating that it was "trying to get an update ASAP."

Toonami announced in November 2015 that it would run the "English-language world premiere" of Dragon Ball Super in Southeast Asia and India in mid-2016, but the show has yet to air.

Dragon Ball Super premiered in Japan in July 2015 on Fuji TV and other channels. The series is the first new Dragon Ball television series since Dragon Ball GT, which aired from 1996 to 1997.

Akira Toriyama is credited as the original creator, as well as for "original story & character concepts." Toei Animation's Kimitoshi Chioka (Hakaba Kitarō, Kamisama Kazoku) is the series director, and Naoko Sagawa (Yomiko Advertising, Inc.) and Atsushi Kido (Toei Animation) join Osamu Nozaki as producers. Kido entered Toei just as the company was animating the Dragon Ball Z anime's Frieza arc.
