Gundam: The Origin's Loum Arc Slated for Next Fall

posted on by Egan Loo

The Loum Arc of the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin anime series will open in Japan next fall. Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the creator of the original manga series and the chief director of the anime adaptation, made the announcement at the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin IV Eve of Destiny premiere screening at the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall on Saturday.

Yasuhiko added that the staff has already entered production on the Loum Arc. The trailer for the new arc will run with the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin IV episode, which will open in 15 Japanese theaters on November 19.

The new arc will cover the Battle of Loum, the pivotal conflict in the One Year War's early days before most of the events depicted in the first Mobile Suit Gundam anime.

The current Char/Sayla arc of the anime is ending with the fourth episode. The episode will feature Char's "fateful encounter" with the girl Lalah sune, the first Gundam anime's protagonist Amuro Ray, and "the legendary Dr. Minovsky" (whose physics breakthroughs eventually led to mobile suit warfare). The episode will also cover the development of the MS-04 and the RX-78 Gundam mobile suits, as well as the first ever mobile suit battle in history.
